I actually spent quite a bit of time visually comparing the ZX7 to the T100 and the i210.  No measurements - just comparing visually the 7i and PW from each set.  To my eye, it is quite easy to see the difference between the T100 and i210 (e.g., T100 slightly smaller overall, much thinner top line, slightly less offset) but hard to tell the ZX7 from either.  The ZX7 clearly falls between the two.  The only easy to distinguish feature is the top line.  I actually think Titleist went just a skosh too far with the T100 given it’s overall size and it appears a bit too thin.  For a mid-size chassis such as T100 and ZX7, I think a top line right between the two would be perfect.

Keep in mind the differences described are fairly subtle.  It isn’t as if the ZX7 has the top line of the Ping G series.  It’s more like 714 AP2...

I think you nailed it

the t100, which I game, IS a touch too thin and small - feels incredible in sweat spot, but very thin outside that area

ZX7 is exactly what I am eyeing to be goldilocks on all metrics

This assessment is spot on in my opinion.  I went in to my fitting wondering if i would have the game for the x7s- even as a high single digit cap.  Looking down at the club the first time I was surprised at how the top line was thicker than I expected but it gave me confidence.

I went 4 and 5 in the x5 and 6-A in the x7 and as said above, the combo set seems like it will blend well.

I'll find out in a few weeks when they get here

Debating the combo switch point at the 6 or 7 iron from ZX5 to ZX7?

Advice?

I split at ZX5 6i and ZX7 7i.  I hit the demo clubs - A LOT.  Found there to be 0.0% difference in off center ‘forgiveness’ from both distance and curvature perspective.  Additionally, from address, they look virtually identical.  IMO, it’s all about the launch and spin at their respective lofts.  I benefitted from the extra launch and lower spin at 27 degrees loft hence the ZX5.  I do not need the help at 31/32 degrees and prefer the thinner sole and higher more consistent spin of the ZX7.

Again, in my opinion, there is NO practical difference in forgiveness.  Basic questions are:  at what loft do you need the extra launch and lower spin for the given loft and where do you start to get concerned about too much junk in the trunk at sole width.  No pat correct answer - everybody is different.

There was some interest in comparison pics between 785 and zx7... here you go. Also added a pic of the AW

The club on top is the ZX7

my 2c, having hit 765, 785 and the new ones. There is not as much difference between the 785 and ZX7. The new one is a smidge shorter in heel to toe. 785 is a bit more forgiving I think but the new irons feels a bit better.

It just depends on your swing and launch.  i have no trouble hitting the ball high (too high because i flip a bit)

my fitter and i decided on the 4 and 5 in the zx5 and the 6-A in the zx7 with the zx7 bent 1 degree strong to try to get my flight down a bit more and blend the set better.

I probably would have been fine going zx7 for the whole set but I've played the 565s in the past and really liked the long irons in them.

I also debated going with a zx utility iron in the 4 and then 5-A in the zx7 but ultimately chose what I did

How could they make 2 different clubs look almost identical and have the same amount of forgiveness? That is amazing for Srixon to pull that off. U said u got a chance to demo alot, how did u get to do that? I would love to do the same experiment to figure out where to change the combo set? Since i hit the ball very low, does that mean the entire set of X5 would benefit me

Can anyone tell me whether the ZX5 A wedge is cavity back or blade?  Hoping it's a cavity back continuation of the rest of the irons.

Thanks for this. So it does look to me like srixon went back to more 745 shape cause that is what it looks like when I put my 745 next to 785. Although 745 topline does still look thickest of the 3.

Is sole same thickness in zx and 785. Hard to tell from pic.

In your opinion because I've yet so see or test the A wedge in the ZX7, how would you compare it to if you just got the Zipcore as your gap wedge.  Would they play fairly similar?

Someone did post a pic earlier, either in this thread or the other ZX iron thread. It does appear to be an extension of the ZX5 (looks very similar, if not the same). The issue I have is the loft. There's a 6 degree gap from PW->GW. To me that makes no sense.

thanks for all the responses

I need spin and launch....so thank you for reminding me ....I think I will split at the 8iron actually

go 4-7 in zx5 and then for 'scoring' clubs head to 7"s

appreciated

Is sole same thickness in zx and 785. Hard to tell from pic.

It is pretty tough to tell the sole thickness even in person because of the way the leading and trail edges are somewhat smoothened out but I think the ZX7 has a smidge thinner sole. I like the V sole a bit more in the ZX7. The topline is a bit thick on ZX7, comparable to the 785.

I haven;t really considered Zip Core wedges but I normally use my Gap Wedge for full shots, so made sense to get something that blends more with the rest of the irons. If you like to hit partial shots and need a bit more spin, the Zip Core or specialized gap wedges makes sense.

I’ve heard Srixon measures club length differently than other manufacturers, is this true? I’ve got a set of ZX7s coming at STD and am trying to determine what the 4i length will be (according to the STD I’m used to), so that I can gap the lengths correctly to a 3i ZX Utility.

I had the same question and @DeboPga78 was nice enough to measure his 6 iron.  Srixon lists the 6I at 37.5 inches, but it measured closer to 37.75-38" (rough, it wasn't measured using any official ruler/machine -- hence why the range and not exact #).  I have the pics in my DM, but it wasn't letting me download them to attach.

I read somewhere that Srixon measures the club length without the grip on, which would mean it should add ~1/4" to the total length (measured to edge of butt cap).  His measurements seem to validate this.

Just my 2 cents, as I don't have any of the clubs in my possession to verify and YMMV.  Hopefully one of the members who has the clubs in-hand can verify as well.

About 1/8” to 1/4” longer than Titleist standard and about 1/8” shorter than new Mizuno standard

Did they use that crummy frosted finish that Callaway likes to use that wears terribly?  Why move from the usual satin/chrome combo they do so well.

I was able to get out and hit the irons 2 days last week, before the weather took a turn for the worse.  After 2 days, I immediately turned around and sold my p790's.  I love the way these look, feel, and play.  I went back to the Aerotech Steelfibers, and I think I will be happy with this change as well, but I need more time to be sure.  I can't wait for my golf trip in March, as that maybe the next time I get to hit these.

Do you guys think someone coming from the PXG 0211s can game a combo set of these? The VT sole really intrigues me as I playing in the PNW.

Srixon length is exactly the same as Ping length and I believe new Mizuno length. I had the Pings here to measure and had measured the against Mizunos prior. The new standard length is 1/4" longer than the old standard. They cut their shafts and measure without the grips on so the grip cap adds roughly an additional 1/8" or 1/4" if it is a new MCC style grip.
