2020 Travelers Championship

For how much coverage DeChambeau gets about hitting it so far, DJ just outdrove him by 25 on the last hole, 350 yards and longer by 15 than anyone when it mattered. Can think of a few more he's hit like that - 18th at 2017 Northern Trust Open when he was competing with Spieth and just bombed it over everything on a line that nobody dared to take before. Can also think of 2015 and 2016 US Open final holes. One of the most clutch long drivers on tour and has another gear under pressure.

What does the truss actually do? I'm a bit skeptical that it does anything meaningful from a physics standpoint, but maybe something mental?

According to DJ talking about it during the TM release. He said when he switches to his blade, he feels he tends to hit the blade offline on shorter puts. The bigger head putters stay more stable for him. This feels like a bigger head putter with the stability but is a blade.

To piggyback off that, if he can figure out a putter that works and is confident on the green with like this week...him and Rory seem to be the best when firing on all cylinders. 13 years in a row now, great steak. Great win, climb up from behind and then face bunch of adversity that we are all accustomed to when it comes to DJ trying to finish off a tournament.

Dustin Johnson wins his twenty first PGA Tour title.

The only golfer under the age of 50 with more is Tiger.

His career now matches the win and majors total of Davis Love III, Lanny Wadkins and Willie Macfarliane. Craig Wood is the other man with 21 tour wins and he has two majors.

DJ passes Greg Norman, Hale Irwin and Doug Sanders in PGA Tour wins.

He's one win from catching Ray Floyd, three from Gary Player and four from catching Johnny Miller.

He has won at least one tournament every season he has been on tour, 13 in total. He needs one more next season to match Tiger with 14. Jack and Arnie have the record with 17.

Dustin Johnson moves to #3 in the OWGR.

After a terrible year to date, me moves up to #22 in the FedEx Cup standings. He started the week #103.

Dustin Johnson sits #5 on the all time money list and now moves to about $7,500,000 behind Vijay.

All I gotta say is protect the big man, Tiger Woods at all cost. With all his surgeries not sure if he qualifies as “at risk” but I’m kind of guessing getting sliced open as many times as he has doesn’t help.

I doubt TW is at risk for developing complications more than anyone his age unless he has an underlying condition like diabetes, pulmonary/cardio, immunodeficiency.

More of a risk is he gets it and gives it to him Mom.

But, I agree he won’t take any risks. There should be none if he just distances himself from everyone and his caddie does. The guys and caddies who do that won’t get it. The guys And caddies who don’t might get it.

Meantime, big congrats to DJ. If he’s firing and putting, he can beat anyone.

Despite winning 21 times, I still feel like DJ is overlooked when it comes to discussions of the great golfers of this generation. I think that's largely a byproduct of his lack of major success so far relative to Rory, Spieth, Koepka, etc. when he's on, I don't think there's a person around today that can match him.

On Thursday it looked like DJ was totally lost out there but he righted the ship quickly and won. Just didn't see that coming when I saw his struggles on PGA TOUR Live earlier in the week.

Also, props to Will Gordon for securing temporary membership on the TOUR with his finish today.

That missile of a drive on 18 aside, I thought DJ got away with one with the setup on 15. No idea why the Tour thinks they should have rough lining the water there. It's risk/reward with the best players in the world on an already score-able course, that bank should be shaved down to the hazards edge.
