Club Builders in Los Angeles?

Hi guys,

I live in Los Angeles (90026) and don't have enough room for a work bench at my house. I'm a frequent tinkerer and hate having to wait for Roger Dunn's in North Hollywood. They're always so backed up! Do y'all know of any alternative places to take my clubs for re-shafting and loft/lie checks? Any and all help is much appreciated.

Just wanted to bump this thread in case anyone has any recommendations. Im in the same area (los angeles) and need two wedges re-shafted but dont want to wait the 2 weeks it takes the big stores to do it!

what happened? Do you have any alternatives?

I don't want to Karen anyone out of their livelihood, but he ruined one of my clubs while bending it and then told me it was like that when he got it.

 

I wish I had an alternative, I've been mostly sending my clubs off to people outside of LA. I do my own grips. I am watching this thread though, so hopefully someone has a good rec.

Jason Mueller at J's Club Shack, he's in Simi Valley (bit out of the way) but is amazing. Been in the industry for decades so he knows how to deal with older equipment like bore through heads. He's done a bunch of different things for me and it's flawless every time.

Unless it has changed, he also had a week or so lead-time for any club work. This was in 2019 when i tried to get a set re-shafted.

Yeah with Covid and how absurdly busy golf is around here he's packed but it's about a week when I had my club work done.

Or...I'll direct you while you build your own clubs using my equipment.  Loft/lie, reshafting, frequency testing, whatever.  I'll put up the bumpers in the gutter while you LEARN BY DOIING the work yourself (at my direction.)

Yep, if you want to do it right, do it yourself. I've been burnt too many times by these pro builders. Now, Kyle from the old Roger Dunn in North Hollywood was GREAT but he's no longer there.
