Cameron Champ Covid 19

Trap Junior

I don't think he played last week at Harbor Town. I think he caught it outside of the Tour. Life happens, he's a seemingly otherwise healthy 25 year old- he should be OK. Hope he gets over it quickly and returns to the Tour.

It's not how fast you play, it's how well you play fast!

I dont know what the answer is. I cant see the tour continuing if each week say 3 or 4 guys are diagnosed and then 2 days later some new player shows symptoms. ITs a bad look.

The young guys will be. Its the people they come in contact with that's the problem.

From watching tv the players and caddies are not taking it seriously. They were fistpumping in week 1. They were not supposed to have caddies touching clubs and they do. The caddies were supposed to stay 6ft away. They didnt. The tour were supposed to all travel together. That hasnt happened. Players are going out to restaurants and mixing with the public. No surprise at all.

I dont see 2021 going to plan either. This virus is going to hang around for a long time and do a lot more disruption and deaths before its done.

Which is why it will be extremely difficulty to continue. Like Trap said, they could not get the first week right. People are just not taking is serious enough to protect each other, even with golf being one of the safer sports to participate in. Should be a no brainer, but it's proving to be difficult. And at the end of the day COVID don't care.

Sure, but having it and getting over it is starting to not sound as peachy as it once was. Like a cold you can get it again. If you get it again, you may have antibodies to ward it off, or you may not if the virus mutates. We just don’t know enough about it to say unequivocally that if you have it and recover, that you will be OK in the long run. The tour is playing with fire here, but at the end of the day, they are a business just like any other. Look no further than the airline industry to be reminded of how nuts things are right now. I can drive to an airport after I’m done typing this and fly pretty much anywhere in the world and I won’t be told to wear a mask or have my temperature checked through any of it? Why? Well because that would be a massive business hurdle and the airline lobby is strong; maybe the strongest of them all. Air travel is the most regulated activity, perhaps of them all, and yet there is been no imposition of requiring passengers to wear masks or be tested before hopping on a plane with potentially hundreds of other people and practically sitting on top of each other. Bonkers, really.

The reason the Tour shut down at first was because the virus was a wildcard, an unknown and they were doing their part along with the rest of the country to flatten the curve. Also the downtime allowed the Tour to piece together it's policy and procedures to deal with operations in the midst of a pandemic.

If people were expecting for this to go on and only a handful of players/personnel would test positive over the span of the rest of the season they were kidding themselves. There are NHL, MLB, and College FB teams that have more than a handful of players that have currently tested positive. I think as long as they can reasonably field events they will keep going.

It’s the situation where one thing is being said, but hop on a plane and see what transpires. There should be a whole host of other restrictions. Back to golf though, I’m curious to see what the Tour does here. I think reminding the players and caddies about what they should be doing, and the players/caddies obeying and setting a good example would be a great move. Hell, even enforce some stroke penalties if they won’t do it for slow play!

No I totally get it, much the same with anything public. People seemingly just do not care. No matter where I go, I see people casually going about as if there is no virus. The PGA being the first(?) pro sport to resume should try to set an example for other to follow.

My best guess is that they will begin to cancel events. Sadly this seems to be happening with all sports, well maybe not E sports.

THIS

At least one mod made it clear these threads were locked because posters can't control themselves.

I suspect if you keep anger, name calling, etc. OUT of your posts and discuss the subject like adults the thread will stay up.
