Tournament schedule 2nd half of 2020

I am looking at the tournament schedule and it looks like things are very condensed out there. Prior to Covid-19 I would always see 1 big tournament a weekend I would want to attend. It was pretty obvious which one you wanted to do.

Now when I look there are multiple big tournaments on the same weekend (if they rescheduled.) It basically almost impossible to plan a few months out at this point. Some of this is do to the current various regulations but also because I am not willing to put my kids on a plane anytime soon.

Some other observations

Prior to Covid 19 AGJA has had the best competitions. Now I am not sure plenty of weak field and honestly I am seeing better competition locally. Some of the best players are even skipping Junior tours and playing a lot more amateur tours. I haven't checked the bigger amateur tournaments but I suspect a lot good amateurs are not doing them either.

The AJGA is just an organization that puts on events! They don't guarantee the best fields but have in the past. If your junior golfer scores well in any JGS ranked event it will get noticed right now. Don't get hung up on the organization, just go out and compete.

It's not just AJGA either lots of events are down across the board. As for JGS rankings they are useless this year. Lots of reasons but a good chunk of kids are going to fall off because they are going to skipping a lot tournaments this summer.

Also how many kids will travel in the fall and how many think high school golf is actually going to start back up.

Also playing in a JGS ranked event is not what gets you noticed. A lot local events especially for girls are not long enough yardage and need to be longer. Unless your a 2021 and perhaps 2022 ( in which case you need to reach out to them) Trying to get on radars of college coaches is going to extremely hard. The way things look so many programs are going to have to be rebuilt. I expect a huge decline in womens and mens college programs. If your playing junior golf in hope to get a scholarship the road in the next fews years is going to be uphill.

Honestly 2023-2025 I think we can hope will be a lot better position then older kids since they should be rebuilding programs and a lot kids will not be playing golf.
