I have never had or seen a hole in one...

I've seen two and one albatross. Despite having made plenty of birdies on par 3s, I don't think I've actually ever come all that close. I've had shots end up within a foot, but I think the closest I ever came was a ball scorching the edge on its way to ending up four or so feet past. Not sure if it would have dropped, but maybe.

I've sorta seen one.  Night golf, longer uphill par 3.  2 of us hit shots tracking right at the pin.  Walk up and only saw 2 balls from our 3some.  Oh crap...did someone's ball get in the cup???

One guy goes to check, my heart is pounding.  Please don't be my ball in there.  I don't want my first and maybe only ace to be on this janky executive course, that nobody saw the ball go in.

Luckily it wasn't my ball, it was my buddy's and it was his first.  He redeemed himself a few weeks.later by getting an ace on a legit course.

I've only seen one and it was the ugliest and luckiest hole in one ever. Was a short par 3 and I was playing with a buddy with a random father and daughter. The father hit his tee shot and skulled it probably underground but this ball just suddenly came out of the rough onto the green and dropped into the hole. Never got higher than knee height and this guy had a hole in one.

Also he spent the rest of the round in the long grass searching for balls because there was no need for him to pay for balls when people lose so many.

I’ve witnessed 4, but never had one myself. I’ve had a couple of close calls, but not that many.

what’s more annoying is that my dad has had 2, mum has had 2, and even my granny has had 2..............and they love reminding me of that!

I had one 2 years ago.  I've been playing golf for 35 years.  First 1 ever.  It was not even a good shot.  I pulled my tee shot into a big willow tree on the left side of the green.  It bounced around several times, hit the green rolled over and hit the pin and dropped in.  I have seen 2 other ones in the 35 years.

Mine occurred during our skins group which meant I had to buy drinks for everyone.  Best spent money on drinks ever.

At this point, I don't even care if I'm the one that jars it....I just really wanna be there for one so I can experience the thrill of it all. I'm kinda bummed I wasn't there for my Dad's ace several years ago.

Today, I had a kid in class get a text from her brother that he just made a hole in one.  We had a nice conversation about golf in class after that.

A bragging moment but I scored my first hole in one yesterday. I have witnessed a few but has always missed my game for about 20 years. It was cool to have a couple of my buddies there to witness it. It can happen but it really all is on luck and having it happen when it does.

I've been present for one hole in one.

Course was a little backed up and our group was waiting on a par 3 along with another group.

The green cleared and the group waiting with us teed off.  One tee shot was a worm burner that bounced and rolled onto the green and disappeared.  When the group got up to the green they were all jumping and yelling because the ugly worm burner shot somehow made it to the hole.

Not pretty but still a hole in one.

I've not had or seen anyone have a hole-in-one but was playing with a guy who got an albatross on a par 5 in a practice round.

I was playing by myself early morning on vacation in Florida.  Teed up a par 3 and dunked it in the water.  Instead of going to the drop zone, I teed up another and put it in for par.  Not a hole in 1, and no witnesses, so I just enjoyed it and moved on mentally.  About 5 years later I got one playing with 3 buddies.  They were more excited than I was because I don't think they had seen one (I had seen 2 by that point plus my hole in 3 or whatever that was).

Seen one but never had one myself. Closest time for me was when my ball flew directly to the hole and wrecked the front lip then popped out to 3 feet. Sounded and looked like it went directly into the hole on the fly, then I 2 putted for par.....SMH.

I had one about 20 years ago and have been close a number of times.  I saw two in about three months with playing partners.  Both of them were ugly (the HIO not the partners).  One hits a sky slice that one hops into the cup, the other hits a screaming bouncer that he doesn't even see go in.  I video the second player picking his ball from the cup and it is hilarious.  He still cannot believe that he has a HIO until I make him pay the bar tab! 🤣

Have never had one or been in a group that has had one.  Until 2 weeks ago when I had my first.  I could talk for hours on it.  While of course the ball going in was the highlight, everything surrounding it make it 10x what a "basic" hole in one is like.

  • It was a good shot.  Well struck 7-iron to 167 yards.
  • I saw it go in.
  • The weather was perfect
  • It was at a special place, a great course in northern Michigan.
  • I was with my friend who I learned to play golf with in college
  • It was his birthday weekend trip,  We were on the second 18 of the day.
  • I was with 2 other guys who I know and really like.
  • The other group we were with were on 10 and heard the roar and came running back.
  • Director of golf gave me a nice signed flag as a memento.

I can see how it would be disappointing to get one solo.  The people I was with made it so special.
