Just thought I'd let you know. I went on ebay and immediately bought a Scottsdale Anser after seeing yours in your WITB. Looks great at address!

Great choice!  I'm still loving mine.  I've had A LOT of putters and this one is firmly in the bag.

Single digit golfer who plays in the wind regularly.

Bag is based on what feels right.

Different OEM's, different shaft flexes but relatively consistent feel across the bag

Putter: Odyssey O-Works Red Jailbird Mini S - 34" Lamkin Deep Etch Grip

Ball: Srixon Z-Star

The only thing bought new in my bag is... well, the bag. I have been playing for about a year and a half after picking up the game because I was asked to help "coach" high school golf where I teach. I had a disaster of a swing when I started and resorted to taking only a half back swing but progressed quickly and was out-swinging the regular flex clubs I started with. Through this forum and some self-fitting (and Callaway Pre-Owned) I have settled on this set up.

I don't keep a handicap but my average score is currently 90.1. I have broken 90 only 3 times and mostly get out for only 9 holes where I shoot from the high 30s to high 40s. My home courses are not very long. I have become a decent driver of the ball for my relative skill level and consider myself relatively long off the tee. My strike varies on the face but I regularly find myself past 290 yards total.

Through some trial and error I settled on one fairway of just a 5 wood. I can hit it off the deck and I will use it off the tee if there's trouble where my driver might land. It is about 250-260 depending on strike and more like 240-250 off the deck.

I had started with a 19 and 22 degree hybrid and just never saw enough difference in total distance between them, plus the shorter 22 was easier to hit. I picked up the Rogue 4H and it is a great second shot club on some par 5's when I am trying to reach in 2 but I will normally lay up. It sees a lot of use off the tee on the front 9 of my shorter home course though. It is a dead reliable 225-230.

I spent the last 6 months or so popping into golf shops and hitting used clubs to see what worked for me. I also spent some time hitting demo clubs in the bay. Through that and some research I decided to attempt this Mavrik Max/Pro combo set. My longest Iron is now a 6. My old set had a 5 but I never used it. I was never at that distance and if I was, a softer hybrid was and easier shot. I may add the 5 Iron later if I feel I need to. I went with the Mavrik Max in 6-7 for forgiveness and 8-AW in Mavrik Pro for a bit more control. So far the blend is working well. The difference in head size and offset isn't bothering me but I've only been out a few times. The Max is a very easy club to hit. There are several par 4's at the courses I play were there are various doglegs and I take a 6 or 7 iron from the tee box because I am not comfortable going over the corner or, don't have room to. The Pro's are not much harder to hit but do require more precision. They sound and feel much nicer than the Max version but I view them as having very different jobs to do.

The MD4 wedges gapped nicely with my old set GW which was a 50*. The Mavrik Pro AW is 48* and on full swings there is a bigger yardage gap then I would prefer, I may end up going to a 52, 56, 60 set up. But It may not end up being an issue. The 54 W grind is the work horse wedge. I will use it for just about everything. It's just easy to hit a shot by letting the bounce and wide sole do what it's supposed to. It is great for square faced shots but I can open it up a fair amount without issue unless I am on a hard-pan lie. The 58 X grind is more of a "break glass in case of emergency" club. The X grind has more heal, toe, and trailing edge relieve, but with enough bounce that I can swing it pretty much the same as my 54. It really only sees use out if higher lipped, firm bunkers green side, or a shot when I have to really get up and over something. Basically, it its I shot I don't think I can pull off with any other club, I will use the 58.

I really like the Jailbird Mini S. My eye likes that there isn't much going on on top alignment aid wise. I do like the feel of the current insert in the stroke lab black putters a little better but not enough to want to change.

The Srixon Z Star is a good ball. It holds up when I send it into a tree, can tolerate a bounce on a cart path more often then not, feels good, and spins enough for me. I try and get them when there's the Buy one get one half off sale.

Hey guys and gals, hope all is well and youre all safe in Gods arms. Well a bit of history i've been playing since 12/13 years but 8 years ago i switched to SL irons. from then on i have not looked back. I've experimented studied, researched tried everything and documented it. well most of it. 🙂 Now during our lockdown i decided to build an Old Nike pro-combo forged set/Cleveland 900 & Japan HANDMADE wedges, so here it is. Sorry for the Frankenstein looking heads.  (sorry about the crappy pics)

    • In-hand photos of 2023 TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus, Stealth 2, Stealth 2 HD drivers + fairways woods
Check out our front page launch stories here and here.

What you need to know: For the first time, carbon is the most prevalent material by volume in a TaylorMade driver, and more carbon equals better performance, says the company. Last year, TaylorMade debuted a 60X Carbon Twist Face. With TaylorMade Stealth 2, engineers are bringing carbon to more of the golf club — and unveiling a new-and-improved Carbon Twist Face in the process. Stealth 2 Plus (low spin, most workable) Stealth 2, and Stealth 2 HD (draw bias, high launch, most forgiving) drivers make up the Stealth 2 family.

What you need to know: Breakthrough movable weight technologies and versatile designs are the hallmarks of the 2023 TaylorMade Stealth 2 fairway woods. Stealth 2 Plus is branded as “three fairway woods in one” owing to the unique performance characteristics afforded by the 50-gram sole weight. Stealth 2 features a slightly lower profile 3D carbon crown than Stealth. This moves CG down and away from the toe with more weight in the rear of the club for higher launch and MOI. Ultra-high MOI Stealth 2 HD features an oversized 200cc head and low-profile sole, creating an easy-to-hit, draw-biased club.
