its doing well. been using them for about 4 weeks and its all systems go. have a small gapping issue with the 5 iron which i think will come back soon - not hitting the right distance. that being said i just started up about 4 weeks since - 9 months covid19 lock-down (thats when i made the irons/wedges) , so im optimistic. (also made some swing changes) which all turned out for the better.

How do you like the ventus? I know you've tried the hulk and many other shafts, any insight you can add would be awesome.

I love it, hands down the best shaft I have hit. I'll admit I have always been a bit partial to Fujikura stuff but this shaft is the real deal. Not as linear as the Atmos Black, i think the butt is a little softer so there's a tad more feel. I like the Hulk it was just a little "crisp" for my liking and the Tensei PO probably felt the best but I had a tendency to get quick with it. It's similar to a "white" diamana but I think maybe a hair stiffer in the butt. I really do think there is something to the Velocore, I have hit plenty of drives where I know by the swing and impact it should be a diving toe hook and it really hasnt lost much on direction or distance. Others shafts I've played would have. It really is just point and shoot for me and its worked well in both the SIM and the G410. I just put the Blue in my 3w if that says anything. Below are some recent numbers with it. Ball speed a tad low for that club head speed but I'd take that on the course 100/100 times.

Used to play in high school, very on and off since then (20plus years ago).  I've played enough this year to get myself back to a 3 handicap.

Notes No One Cares About:

-I've played the same irons since 1988 (Tommy Armour 845s SilverScot). Getting fit in 2020 was a completely new (and somewhat crazy) experience. 

 

-I definitely wasn’t looking to get fit into Cleveland Launcher driver. That said, the numbers were good and it's served me well so far. Naturally I'm always wondering about driver, and if I’m leaving yards on the table (probably like every other one of us out there).

 

-Really wanted to be a TaylorMade guy through the whole bag, but the SIM just didn't seem to work for me.

 

-SuperStroke 2.0 is a little too bulky on the putter, so may downsize to 1.0 for 2021.

 

-Driver headcover is my golden retriever Leo, a birthday gift from my wife (who may have ordered it after one too many glasses of wine 🙂 ) 

 

-Absolutely love the P790s.  I got fitted into them just before P770s dropped and immediately wondered if I'd missed the boat. Truly think the P790s remain the best fit for me. TM has definitely upped their iron game the past few years and there’s no reason to think it won’t continue.

 

-My plan is to continue with P790s for next 2-3 years with a goal of improving ball striking and maneuverability to ultimately move into P7MCs (or whatever comparable iron has been introduced by that time).

 

Haha…best laid plans, right?

Curious if you ordered direct from TM and if so what swingweight the 7MCs came in at? I ordered mine 3/4" over too with a similar shaft weight but have heard the swingweights have been high for the MCs.

Nah, I got fitted & bought through Club Champion.

 

And yep, the added length brings them to a hefty D5.

I mean sure they have better ones out there but im a old school player who learned how to estimate and walk off distances so getting a fast reading really helped speed up shots and give better confidence as well. For the price I couldn't beat it. Also have a bunch of discount codes flying around to get a better price then what they offer.
