F1 Begins this weekend!

Take 2 and Silverstone. Merc's again look unbeatable. Hopefully a team will step up and close the gap just to make the top interesting. Danny and Lando are certainly spicing up the midfield!

Boring track only made watchable by the mid field through 18. And what's with Hamilton making 2 bonehead practice starts on the course? I can only assume even he was bored and wanted to test the stewards. Danny Ricc looked poised to podium until Ocon and team engineers delivered a blow. He will be even more fun to watch next year after he leaves Renault.

Anyway, glad it is over.

Mercedes told Hamilton that where he made the practice restarts was okay. The FIA reversed the 2 penalty points given to Hamilton after listening to in car audio between Hamilton and his team that told Hamilton he was okay to do the practice starts where he did.

Yeah, even then it creates a mess to officiate. Is reversing the points an admission they were wrong in their decision? They still jumped in even if they really did not need to and gave Hamilton +5 sec for both. How about ignoring Leclerc's take out of Stroll? Let that slip even though they have penalized for that same move this year.

The current F1 race stewards and the FIA in general are a flaming hot mess. Can't see that changing anytime soon.

100%

It would take more than new blood. Almost as dysfunctional as Ferrari is this year.. 😄

guys...somewhat new to watching F1...but what are the expectations going into next year with the new cars. are most expecting mercedes to continue to be dominant, or are the new designs going to bring the cars closer together and encourage less predictable finishes?

The "new" cars have been pushed back to 2022 because of Covid, and I believe the teams are significantly limited in the changes they can make to the cars for next year so 2021 will probably be more of the same. But to answer your question, yes, the significant changes in regulations and design of the cars, along with the budget caps, are expected to result in a much more competitive grid for 2022. Fingers crossed.
