You never know but remember there's fewer majors this year. Guaranteeing a player who's not a top 30 golfer is going to win a major would be crazy in a normal year; even crazier this year. It'll be a great prediction if it comes true.

I think Rickie is about to catch fire. His golf hasn't been up to par (no pun intended) lately but this is an important part of the year. He is too good to stay in a slump for too long, especially as good of a putter as he is.

Well, he didn't disappoint................back 9 - hits it left into the gunk then plunks the next one in the water. Was still in contention until then, even though he went backwards, but just like a lot of tournaments, in the mix until the back 9 and "there I did it again". Guess he'll have to do a couple more commercials to make up for it. The only anger could be from his caddie - like man your costing me money!!

Ricky will never win a major. His flat swing and slash at the ball has to have perfect timing and that won't/can't happen for 72 holes. Besides, his Sunday back 9's have been his Achilles heal for too many tournaments. Apparently it's honed into his game to just screw up on the last 9.

I've never met Rickie but I do play golf with his grandpa occasionally. Everything I see about him is positive - and that is reinforced by his proud grandpa Taka. He seems like he is one of the good guys and I am always rooting for him. If he never wins another tournament he's already had a pretty amazing career.

I'm a pretty big Fowler critic but I'm going to argue the other side. "Always finds a way to lose"? He's got 5 PGA Tour wins including some big tournaments like the Players, Wells Fargo, etc. Isn't it arguable that for his talent he's about where he should be as far as wins? Looking back at his stats I don't see a reason to believe he's under-performed relative to his stats. He was a legit top 10 golfer in 14-16 and even was #1 in total strokes gained one year but over the course of his career if you look at the prestige of his wins he's had a pretty successful career. Only relative to his marketing has he underachieved. He was never going to be Rory, Spieth, JT, Rahm, etc.

Agreed very much. I enjoy watching the dude play, and appreciate how he took the marketing game by storm but if you stat him out nameless and then see his resume I'd say he has done well for himself, bordering over achieved as a total package. The attachments of this next great player was a mix of hype/skills, but unsure if he was ever the type that was going to start rattling off majors at a couple a clip. Compete, contend for them down the stretch for sure and maybe/probably grab one before all said and done, but multiples will be hard to come by.

Consistently competes at a high level, some W's including a Players, oodles of millions in the bank and a smoke show at home is a great career/life let alone all to accomplish by around 30.
