Always played wedge flex. So s200. Going to ti s400 made a decent change in my ball flight. Much flatter. Also spinning the ball more. I'm not a low cap. Bit around 105ish swing speed with a driver. Play Px lz 6.0 in my irons

I go PX 7.0 in irons, X100 in wedges. Like the softer feel and increased spin on partial shots.

I like my wedge shaft either to be dg s300 or dg s400. They are heavy and really smooth with amazing spin control!

For reference I play AMT Black S300 in my 4-AW(48*) and I also play the standard S200 (should be around 127g, so comparable to your situation) wedge flex in my 52 and 58. I haven’t noticed any jarring progression going from the AW to the 52, but I rarely hit a full AW then another full 52 or 58. I wouldn’t say I’m the most discerning, but I would guess you would make out just fine.

Great stuff thank you! Really helps a lot to know that it's not a crazy difference. How do you like the lower mass in the longer irons?

I actually get along with them quite well. Makes it easier to get a good high ball flight with the 4 and 5 in my T300’s. My tendency is to get quick and steep, so more mass in my shaft is a good thing. It helps to keep my path less erratic.

That being said, the lower mass in the long irons is something that would allow for my tendency of “too quick” to show up more easily. To overcome that, I’ve made a habit of being more mindful of my tempo on all swings, and that has helped me a ton on my ball striking this year.

AMT technology seems to really fit me well in the S300 profile. I’m loving my T200’s in 6-AW right now. I was originally fit into T300 for 4-7, but I changed to T200 in both 6 and 7. So far so good!

I'm a bit of a shaft who-oar but have never put much thought into wedge shafts. I buy wedges after the new model is released so I just play what comes in them. I bent my 60 around April of last year and am not even sure what shaft went in to replace the bent one but whatever it was, it was a bit heavier and a bit stiffer. I bought a new 60 in March and I have not noticed any difference with the normal wedge flex shaft compared to whatever got replaced in my old 60.

Maybe I'm being simplistic here, or maybe I just don't believe the returns are enough to shaft play in my wedges, but I feel there's no real benefit to changing the stock wedge shaft.

In the last 3 years I've gone from s300 to ctaper to $taper in my irons and have not purposefully changed wedge shafts.

This is all great to know and glad you're hitting the ball well. Sounds like the tempo is a good swing thought for you.

I'm about to pull the trigger on T-200s. I already got my new wedges (Vokey 48 and 54, and Callaway PM19 60 - all with DG S300).

I have PX 6.5s in my irons 4-PW. SM7s have TT DG S400. Bought SM8s with PX 6.5s 50 straight in and 54-58 soft stepped 1x. Just sold my SM8s. Thought I'd try to make it consistent throughout the bag with PX but I absolutely hated it. Love the heavier feel and lower flight the S400s give me with most wedge shots. Distance was the same with PX but total lack of feel and tougher to maintain good smooth tempo. Love PX 6.5 in my irons but S400 in the wedges is the way to go for me. Going to order SM8s with S400 here soon.

I've got kbs $ taper in my irons. I just bought some of the new Bettinardi wedges and had them put the kbs hi-rev shaft in them. Pretty happy with it all. I've tried modus but circled back to s400's in most of my previous wedge setups. If in doubt, you can't go wrong with the True Temper Dynamic Gold shaft for wedges.

I put a 52 * Cleveland RTX4 with standard DG400 shafts in the bag , been very pleased. Its an outstanding gap wedge. Thought the DG 400's would be to heavy, but found them to have nice balance and weight for my swing.

KBS 125's and TI S400's are available as a stock shaft in some of the new 2020 models. Both are solid options for having PX 6.5's in your irons.

Just purchased these TaylorMade MG2 with TI DG S400 - I'm very bummed about the raw face and the idea of rusting. I've always played Cleveland wedges / most recently a Callaway wedge.

Any opinion about selling these for the Callaway MD5 or Vokey SM7 with stock DG s400 instead of Tour Issue?

Project X certainly isn’t stock, but for my Mizunos there wasn’t an upcharge. I would suggest to try keep close to your swingweight, having your irons D1, but your wedges D4 might not be helpful ?

Nearly all wedges are stiff, the Wedge-shafts that Vokey uses are S300, Cleveland is S300, Callaway is S300 iirc. I think TaylorMade uses S300 too ?

I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure vokey and callaway are s200 nd I know cleveland are s400. Which is a bit strange as s300 would seemingly fit a wider range for a stock shaft.

Odd, just had a bunch of shafts shaft replaced for older Ping Glides and a Vokey shaft went in, stating it is an S300. Another had a pulled Callaway put in that also is an S300. Can hardly imagine they’ve pulled custom shafts?

Slapping the ball around a bit, having loads of fun.

Huh, you may be right. I just remember seeing the tour issue s200 labels on the jaws in my pro shop. Maybe companies are shifting towards s300 this year, which probably makes the most sense anyway.

No set standard. A lot of people will go down a flex in the wedges with great success but I don’t. I play tour issue x100s and play the same in my wedges. I have tried tour issue s400 in my wedges two different times with no success. I thought it was possibly the grind of the wedge but I put my trusty x100 back in and it was back to the predictability I’m use to.

I play project x 6.5 in the irons and found the s400 in the wedges to be too heavy (consistently hit shots fat).

For my 52, 56, 60, should I be thinking 6.5, 6.5, 6.0?

Additionally, as a sweep swinger, would I ever benefit from using a low-bounce wedge (exclusively for flops shot) but not for 60-70 yard half swings?
