TXG say matte finish balls are shorter off the tee. Have a sleeve of old Nike black ammo lying around.

I still have some of the Nike Blacks...the pros tried them on tour, then werent a hit

Not for me they arent, longest drives of the year so far playing the Maxfli Softfli Matte

The Nike One Black golf balls were never played by any player for an entire round on tour. 3 or 4 Nike staff players used them on the 16th hole at Phoenix in 2005 for promotional purposes.

I bought some matte black Volviks a couple of years ago. I knew they'd be silly, and I really only bought them to mess with people. Still, I figured I should at least give them a chance, so I played a 9-hole par-3 course using only a black ball.

They. Are. IMPOSSIBLE. To See.

You'd think you would be able to see it in the air... Nope. As soon as it leaves the club-face, it's gone. On the 7th hole, I missed a green by about 6 feet, in the rough. The grass wasn't even that deep, and I was fairly certain of where it had landed. When I walked up there it was unfindable. I went over every patch of that grass for a full five minutes (nobody was behind me). I finally gave up and dropped another ball. As I was walking off the green, I figured I'd look once more. After another two minutes, I found it... right in the middle of the area I'd been searching. It basically invisible, and it wasn't even that deep. Any other color and I'd have spotted it from 30 yards away. I'll never attempt to seriously play with them again.

I do still like to keep one in my bag though, just for the occasional laugh. They look really cool, but they're basically impossible to play with.

These would be hard to see.  Matte is also usually shorter in distance and possibly less spin.

Style over substance. As mentioned above, impossible to see/find. If you can't find a ball, what's the point in playing it?

More of a collector’s item if anything, from the sound of it. But probably not as bad as a camo ball.

Yah, I remember a buddy of mine so proud he had some of those black Nikes to use. First tee shot, off into the right rough under some trees. Never found it, what a shocker.

More for Display than for the course if you ask me...

I would be afraid not to find it even if you hit the middle of the fairway;)

I bought the Gold ones last year to use chipping/putting and in my hitting bay. Took them out to course once and they were hard to see on the ground. Pretty sure the black would be even harder to find.

I hope you hit a ton of fairways! probably easy to see on a sunny day or cloudy day in the air but once one of those bad boys finds a think patch of rough, she gone

Looks like they are back, now with a gloss finish.  Cant see myself playing these though.

Did a double take when I saw a guy rolling some of these on the practice green.  Silly but I guess it draws attention to the brand.

Fun on the putting green but they disappear in the rough
