Titleist AVX vs ProV1x Left Dash

Hello - Has anyone compared these two balls? Or do they not belong in the same category?

I know one thing about the AVX, loved the ball last year but doesnt top on the greens at all, long low ball, but around the greens very bad.

The are low spin with the avx being the lowest of the tour balls from titleist. The avx is also lower flight of the tour balls.

Just to clarify, the Left Dash is a Pro V1x (not Pro V1).

I played for over a year with AVX. Loved the extra rollout on my tee shots and I think it also helped me be a half-club longer on 4-5 irons. In the end I gave up on it because too many well struck 8-irons and 9-irons would take a big bounce forward and leave me in the fringe or rough over the green when I was flying the ball all the way to back hole locations. It has noticeably lower approach shot spin, unless you play on soft green or have a high speed/high spin iron swing they may cause problems.

So I've went back to the Pro V1x. I've tried the Left Dash and for me it plays almost the same as regular Pro V1x. My own subjective ranking of ProV1x, Pro V1x Left Dash, Pro V1 and AVX in terms of suiting my own game on a grading scale of A to F would be:

ProV1x A+

Left Dash Pro V1x A+

Pro V1 A-

AVX B

Something like a Velocity, Tour Soft or TruFeel I'd give a grade of C. Not terrible but really not ideal for me. I need all the height and spin I can get.

They are on the opposite end of the spectrum when it comes to feel. AVX is by far the softest and left dash being the hardest in the titleist lineup. For the record i hated the feel of the avx it felt like mush to me.

Hello - I'm looking for lower spin and enjoy a soft feel so the AVX seems to be a better fit than the PV1, PV1X or the left dash.

AVX is the best all around ball on the market for fell distance and play around the greens....left dash is REALLY FIRM and may turn off a lot of golfers....flies far off the driver though.....for me, 5-7 yards on average.....but the harsh feel is not worth giving up the AVX 2020

The left dash is a ProV1x with slightly reduced spin rates, aimed at players who spin the X too much around the green; it was an option that Titleist offered their Tour players, and now sell retail.  The comparison of the left dash should probably be limited to the ProV1 and ProV1x; the AVX is a completely different animal.  It's for players that like the firm feel of the V1x instead of the V1, but with reduced spin.

 

I struggle with understanding the AVX, though I know there are those who like the ball.  To me, it is a ball for which you pay a premium price but which doesn't really perform that way; I'm not sure why I would pay $48/doz for a ball that is no longer off the tee, and spins around 800 rpms less off a wedge.  I can get a ball that will do that for a LOT less money.  If you want a Titleist logo, the Tour Soft, with about the same spin rates and $10/doz less leaps to mind.
