mc looks a little too much like those bridgestones and the 765s but the mb is fantastic. TM has my attention with those!

You probably have a much later release than I do, so the x might be perfect.

For whatever reason, I got along much better with KBS S+ than Modus, and according to Titleist's website, the KBS has a much firmer butt and tip section.

That’s interesting. I had the KBS S+ in an old set of irons and they felt a good bit stiffer than the Modus 120x. It just goes to show you that it is all swing dependent- people can have the exact opposite sensation/result with the same shaft/setup.

S seemed very smooth. Just seemed to work with my swing. Good dispersion. X just felt very tip stiff. Thinned a lot of shots and couldn’t make consistent contact. Gave up on them pretty quickly. Probably could have figured them out, but the initial feel just turned me off.

I think we can all pretty much agree on that. I‘ll see if I can hit the 120x this week before preorder date. Hoping to get these before my Pebble trip!

Since all these iron releases have me a bit hyped, I'm thinking ahead to comparing the 921F and the P770.

The thing that has me worried, and this is probably me overthinking it and being paranoid, is do hollow irons like the 790 and 770 have the capacity to create inconsistent distances? Or is it more a function of stronger lofts and the tech actually helps maintain ball speed and spin?

I've never played a 790 type iron before, save for hitting my friend's, so I'm unsure how these things behave.

I'm seeing some low spin shots with my 919F, and some don't hold the green so I'm looking seriously at new irons with weaker lofts.

All the initial reviews (TXG, Rick Shiels, others) have said they seemed to have gotten rid of that occasionally hot one that flies the green. I think the more traditional lofts in the 770s help that out quite a bit.

hot spots and jumpy distance is a myth. What happens is a solid strike was provided and the ball went as intended. Other strikes were miss hits.

That would be an interesting comparison. I would expect the 921 stuff to start getting some early reviews relatively soon.

I hope they have a good shaft selection. My biggest beef with Taylormade irons is the no up-charge shaft selection. For that amount of money, they should have a lot more in the way of no upcharge shafts. Callaway and Srixon are awesome when it comes to this- pretty much anything you want.

Idk about $ tapers, but the modus 120 and LZ are no upcharge based on a quote from a pro shop I got for 4-p.

$-Tapers are currently a no upcharge shaft on TM's website. I just got fit into them last week, so I really hope that remains the case with the new line. Their availability will sway my buying decision. If they're not available, or have an uncharge, I may just reshaft one of my current sets with $-Taper instead of buying new. Can't justify the extra cost.

Didn’t hear back from @TaylorMade Golf but hoping that there is some sort of trade in bonus offered towards these. Makes it easier than selling. Looking at 4-AW P770 right now with PX LZ or DG Tour Issue.

That’s promising. I’m hoping they add the DG 120 TI s400 in the mix- really like those- or add the DG 120 s300 with vss. I know they have the regular DG 120s, though.

I know Cobra,Srixon, and Callaway have the regular S400 and X100 TI shafts as no upcharge and Callaway has the 120 TI shafts as no upcharge. I’m sure I’ll make it work, since the 770s are so sick looking, haha.

It's hard for people to accept. I hear this so often, it's almost like a false badge of knowledge for some. I hit some pure shots at inopportune times, but at least I think if I can do it often enough, I'll change my club selection.

That said, the P770s look awesome either all by themselves or in a combo set. Actually a set that I'm excited about.

Most likely. I’m going to keep my p790 4 iron (best 4 iron I’ve ever owned) and go 770s 5-GW. I’ll take all the help I can get. I’m digging the fact that the 770s have the 790 Tech in a smaller package. You?

Most likely 4-6 in 770 and 7-p in 7mc most likely. A full set of 770 has my interest too.

Does anyone know how the P7MC compares to the MP20 MMC from a heel-to-toe length perspective?

MC are my least favorite of the the line up. Not at clean as the rest

Maybe not as clean on the back, but the MC's are the goldilocks in the playing position, IMO.

Every time I see the 7MCs they remind me of these Japan only 2009 TP Forged irons.

I just watched Rick Shiels YouTube video on these, they are definitely smaller and are more traditional lofted than the 790's.
