Was going to buy the TW wedge, then thought about the 7MC, but ended up buying a SIM 5 wood to scratch the itch. Problem is that I think that because they're assembling so many iron sets, my estimated ship date isn't until 9/7

I hit the MB, MC and 770. MB was a little unforgiving for my game, 770 was tending to go fairly straight and easy to launch high but not as workable (maybe not a bad thing). The MC felt much better (I like soft feel even with range balls) compared to the 770. In addition, tried the 770 on the course and didn't like the kbs 120s shaft, felt too heavy maybe because of the counter balanced feel as I use DG 120 s400 tour issue in my current iblades. Also felt like the 770 went much longer than my current 7 iron similarly lofted and not sure I want to work on recalibrating distances. I prefer the feel and thinner sole of the MC and likely will be going with a set of those possibly with modus 120 S. I never liked the p790 for its lack of feel but the 770 is better in this regard but not as soft feeling as the MC. Maybe a combo set for a 4 iron 770 but will see.

I currently play a p790 3 iron but I’m considering replacing it with a p770. They just look so good. Probably going to throw a nippon modus gost on it and strengthen it a degree to have myself a nice little driving iron.

Spoiler

Hit the 770 this past weekend, I was shocked seeing how close it looked from address to my 919 tours! It’s maybe a hair (I mean a hair) thicker on the top line but the blade length appeared to be a hair shorter on the 770. 7 irons in photo, 770 on bottom. I hit it with the stock KBS tour 130 and I honestly didn’t find it to be all that different Feel-wise than my Ctaper 130’s. I will probably end up going 4-7 770 and 8-P in the MC.

Other notes:

- launch, spin, and height were pretty similar to my 919t’s. They went just a touch higher and further, but it was negligible.

- Umm I saw a 1.43 smash in there, which is somewhat concerning, but looking at the whole session rather than a single shot, I’m confident these would play very similar to my tours. I’m guessing I will have better results on low strikes as well as toe strikes. The high smash was also on a lower swing speed, so it resulted in the same overall carry number.

- I would say it had a higher average ball speed, but I got to 131 mph with both so I don’t feel like it’s going to alter any of my distances.
- Shots low off the face and toe didn’t seem to sting quite as badly. And still had decent height given the god awful strike.
- Feel was not quite the same as the tours, but still great. Just different I guess is all I can say to explain it.

I feel as though I could take these out on the course and pick up right where I left off with the tours. Loved pretty much everything about em!

yes, I know I put the middle sticker on a groove low.

Thats exactly what I was thinking. my P790UDi is as 18 degree and thinking getting a 3 iron 770 at 18 or 19 degrees.

Looks like the P770 3 iron is 19.5 degrees stock. I was thinking about getting it 1-1.5 degrees weak, since my current P790 3 iron plays at 19 degrees and I'd like to get just a tad more out of it yardage wise.

I ended up ordering a combo of P770 3-4, P7MC: 5-6, P7MB 7-PW. Stock lofts in the P770 and P7MC, one degree strong in P7MB. This balanced the lofts, but I'll do some distance gap testing when I get them and adjust as necessary.

I pre-ordered last Friday through Discount Dans.  Went with a 770 (4-6) / MB (7-P) combo with C Taper 130X (ss1x).  Was torn on where to break the set, was between 7 and 8, figured I would go with 7 and can always bump it to the 770 if needed, but I feel great about these MBs. (have played Adams MB2's and VR Pros in the past).

Went 4i 1 deg strong, 5 std, 6 1 deg weak and 1 deg strong in all the MB's.  Seems to be a good starting place for gapping and will fine tune it from there.

As a lefty, I've played mismatched combo sets for years.  Always gotten along well with TM irons and always said if they ever made a lefty blade i would buy.  Just so happens it came out in combination with the nicest looking iron lineup ever.  Love a longer blade length in an MB, so I'm jazzed for these.

TaylorMade SIM - 10.5 deg - w/ Aldila Synergy Black Proto 60-TX tipped 0.5 - 44.75"
Adams XTD TI - 2 hybrid (16.5 deg) - Matrix HM3 105g X
TaylorMade P790 - 3i (1 deg weak) - KBS C-Taper Lite-X (ss1)
TaylorMade P790 - 4-6: (2 deg weak) - KBS C-Taper 130x (ss1)
Adams MB2 - 7-PW: KBS C-Taper 130x (ss1)
Titleist Vokey SM4: 50 F Grind - KBS C-Taper 130x (ss1)
Callaway PM Grind 56 - bent to 55, PM Grind 60 - Dynamic Gold TI s400

You were able to order your irons in various changes in loft? I ordered 4-p in 770 and wanted 5-p a degree weak and they said I'd have to do the whole set the same way.

I did mine thru TM you would need to order the 4 iron as a different item than the 5-P

Yea, but TG_343 ordered thru DD just like me and was able to customize his lofts as needed. IDK why I wasn't able to do it. TM does the loft adjustments, not DD. Weird. I'll try them as is and adjust accordingly.

Was pumped to order my MC/MB combo until the only Mitsubishi MMT option was the 75 g. Buzz kill......

If price isn't too much of an issue you can try fairway jockey. They built my irons with MMT 105's and even soft stepped them for me. Looks like they have the TM irons up on their site for custom orders/builds. Will cost you, but it's the only place I know where you can just order pretty much anything you want without going through a fitter.

Yeah I just gave my requested specs as I laid out above to DD when I had my order quoted and was given the green light with no issues.  Then when i actually placed my order through the order form I included the specs again and my order was confirmed with the customization.  Now, whether or not it all comes in correctly is a different story lol.  I plan on having some BB&F customer ferrules installed so I'll likely have the lofts checked / tweaked at that point, as needed.

Sick...which ferrules? Love their stuff. I'd do it if I decide to reshaft.

I just went into PGS SS and asked them if they had the demos yet. Guy says no, but I looked into their cabinet and saw a bunch of 770 7 iron heads sitting in there. How do you as an employee working the fitting bays not know if you’ve got a new release from a major OEM in yet?!

Anyway, hit a few 7 irons with DG S300 and was impressed by the spin numbers. Was hitting a pro v1 about 185 with 6200ish spin. I’m guessing the slightly less jacked lofts help but I was impressed.
