Taylormade P7MC and P770 2020

So I played my P770s today for the 1st time and they were just ok.  They felt clicky to me and just didn't impress me at all.  I shot even par but the feel just isn't for me the P760s are way softer feeling and feel more solid to me, looks wise They look amazing frame the ball perfect.  If you are use to and like the hollow cavity feel these are for you.  My P760s are back in the bag for the weekend and I'm picking up my P7MCs on Monday.  P770s already sold to my buddy he's stoked.  The count down to Monday and my P7MCs begin.

Blade length looks to be the about same between them, with the 770 having a slightly thicker top line.  They look great.

definitely more offset in the 770, and it’s super noticeable if you compare long irons against other CB’s

Still looks good though but for guys who are sensitive to that, they wouldn’t be over joyed.

Ugh... Looks like FedEx lost my clubs. Got a call from one of their "trace specialists" and they are not sure where they are; they were supposed to be delivered today, although the initial delivery date was yesterday. They know they arrived in Memphis late last night (not sure why they were sent from California to Tennessee en route to Texas), but they don't know what happened to them after that. What's worse, if I have to reorder, I'll not receive them for months.

Pretty much anything and everything goes thru Memphis.  It's Fed Ex HQ and main sorting quarters.  They have an entire airport for just Fed Ex.  If it's going any distance, It will likely go through Memphis at some pointIt will likely go through Memphis at some point

While it is true that FedEx's main hub is in Memphis, this is the first time I've had something sent from CA that went through Memphis. All of my other TM purchases, as well as purchases from Callaway, Cobra, and DD (in Oregon), always come straight to Houston.

So, gave the P7MCs a go yesterday and today.  It was an interesting experience.  The top line was a smidge thicker than the my T100s, but the soles on the 4-7 were thinner.  The sole of the MCs get a touch wider as they progress to the pitching wedge (whereas the T100 get slimmer).  By the time you get to PW, they are about the same size.

As for putting them in play - I found the P7MCs got through the turf really well (even if they don’t have the pre-worn leading edge of the P760).  Maybe not as well as the T100, but well enough.  Compared to the 919 Tour which would feel like it was gouging through the dirt, the P7MCs slid through.

I found the P7MCs sounded solid and powerful vs the softer forged feel of the T100.

i also found the T100 to hit my flight window (higher) vs the P7MC flight which was flatter And much lower.  They both had the Modus 120 shafts.

The P7MCs reminded me the 2014 MC when I had them - in the sense that I had to make sure I was working hard to hit down on the ball otherwise I would be rewarded with a thin ball.

One thing I noticed was that the P7MCs had good spin. - the ball stopped on the green even if they didn’t fly as high as I expected.

i also found that the T100 were easier to get in the air and carried about 1/2 club further loft for loft.

I’ll try them for a bit longer - lots to love, and the Tm build was spot-on.  The clubs play in a very competitive space - right now, I’m leaning toward the T100.

How would P770 bent 2° strong play? (Well obviously stronger ? ) but would the sole negatively effect anything with turf interaction).

id rather have the profile of the 770 but I like the lofts of the 790 more.

One week in (got mine on Tuesday in So Cal)... love them, I mean... really love them from 7i on up to 3i, still getting used to 8i on down.  I may just need to get used to the lower irons or I may need to order some MBs or CBs and combo them.  Overall I'm liking the 770s.

Hope you guys that are waiting get them soon!

Back orders aside I think TM has done a great job with their strategy as well as being transparent with delays and expectations.

Has anyone gone from old P770 to new P770....any comparisons??

I’m still undecided what to do....I was all set to go full P770 until I saw the MC but not keen on combing them this time as the MC don’t seem to fit visually compared to the P770 and it may limit resale value

i have been playing a combo set of P770/P750 with C-Tapers and I think the shafts are a bit stiff as I put the stock FLT back into the long irons and hit them far better today

i spent so long trying to find a new set of P750 at a reasonable price that I can’t quite give them up so may just look for a good set of shaft pulls and stick with them over the winter

I played the original P770, at times as a combo with the P750 and at times the P770's by themselves.  The original P770's rate as my second all time iron only behind the Bridgestone J15 CB.

I can share my opinion between the two:

1. Feel:  When flushed the original was softer.  On mis-hits, the original communicated it to you a little more.  But neither the old or new are harsh on mis-hits but both still let you know when you have missed.

2. Distance:  I played SteelFibers in the old and now in the new.  When comparing short irons I think the distances are pretty close with the original maybe a little shorter.  With the long irons the new P770's stretch that distance gain a little more.  Nothing crazy, but a difference that is noticeable.  On less than your best, the new P770's cost you less.

3. Turf interaction: Neither mimics the v-sole of a Srixon, but both cut through the turf in a way a like a lot!

4. Repeatable distances:  A strength of both and equal as far as I can tell after one round and probably 400 range balls with the new version.

5. Dispersion:  (this comes from dozens of rounds with the original and thousands of range balls vs 1 round with the new and hundreds of balls)  The new P770's are landing tight on good swings and better than I expect on the poorer swings.  My results up to now have me very pleased with the purchase!

Overall, I would be happy to play the new or old 770's, but less happy to go back to the old after the new ?  If I am choosing one, honestly an easy decision.  The old wins only one category for me....the flushed feel.

Just finished a round. Shot one of my lowest scores in along time. The mc’s are great. They aren’t soft like my miura mc501 but I wasn’t expecting them to be. They are more of a solid fee to them. The p770 feel better on the course because I don’t get the echo from the walls. Did have some shots go left with the p770 but that’s my miss and i have them in the long irons so it’s not a the clubs fault. Overall I am very happy with these and glad I went the combo route. For times I was hitting out of some thick stuff or had a weed near the ball and the irons still performed well. Hit the pw for a 135yd shot and thought it was going to be short because I hit it slightly heavy. Ball landed the right distance and spun back a few feet.
Now I need to figure out my driver. Haha Sim has been liking the right side more than I would like lately.

Damn my pro shop just told me TM has a shortage and they won’t be able to ship my custom order until early November. I’m just gonna cancel the order for now then.

Hit mc and 770s, 83mph avg swing speed 7 iron with the standard kbs tour stiff 120 loved the mcs, didnt care as much for the 770 only just 2 or 3 yard longer but around 800-1000 less spin with the 770s.

Dispersion was the winner for me, worst shot with mc only just made front edge

Mcs ordered.

Am I the only one who ordered 770s with Modus 105s? I see some guys got Modus 120. Ive heard some say 105 feel stouter than 120s.

For me I really wanted a lightweight shaft.

I’d definitely say Modus 105 is a stouter shaft than Modus 120.  I ordered my 770s with Modus 130, but I have owned Modus 105x and 120x, and hit them in stiff as well.  I thought the 105x felt and played more firm than the 120x. I’d rate them as follows in more firm to less firm: 105x-120x-105s-120s

Callaway Paradym Triple 💎 10.5* Ventus Blue 6X/TR 6S
Titleist TSR2 16.5* (Set to 15.75*) Tour AD DI 7S
Titleist TSR2 18* Hybrid Tour AD IZ 85S

Anyone know if the p770 are bendable? I got mine in standard LLL even though my mp20 MMC are 1* flat.

The 770 look amazing and feel great but I've been missing a lot to the left which is typical for me with anything too upright. I was hoping I could just make the adjustment myself but after a few rounds it is clear that I cannot play them as is.

My understanding is that only the face is forged therefore bending them may be difficult and unwise.

It was always going to be an uphill battle to knock out the mizuno's given how accurate they are for me. But I feel bad not giving the 770s a fair shake
