Does anyone have any info on the stock Z grip? I don't know what it is but it feels like it has less taper than a tour velvet.

I just looked on Golf Pride's site and they offer a Z grip plus 2 which I am assuming this is.

https://store.golfpride.com/store/grips/prod2940002/zgrip-plus2?_ga=2.156103355.1834971641.1602086202-1608590607.1602086202

Wish that came midsize. Standard midsize grips feel a little small, but the +4 are a little too large.

I really like this grip.  So much it might actually kick my MCC Aligns out.  Kinda the best of all worlds.  More traction and firmer than Tour Velvet, softer than Z Grip.  I really am enjoying it so far.  I’ve kept them on as I continue to get used the 770s, as there’s a slight chance I’ll drop in DG 120 X100 SSx1.  So far getting along just fine with the KBS though.

The ‘Ho in me got impatient and I found a set in stock locally. Not a perfect fit but it gives me something to work on when the season ends here in a month or so.

Coming from ‘19 Apex Pro Dots w/PX LZ 6.5. I’ve always liked thin top lines, minimal offset and traditional lofts. The Dots checked all the boxes, I’ve enjoyed them, but as I’m playing less was hoping to find something a little more forgiving. My typical ball flight is a little right to left(I’m right handed). My misses are 1 of 3. 1) I slide a hair and catch it about two grooves thin- divot 3” or so in front of the ball(these stay straight but lose a club or so in distance) 2) I stop turning and hit big long pull hooks 3) I get steep, club gets stuck in the turf and come up about a club short.

Two rounds and two brief range sessions the the P770’s over the past two days. So far I’m pleasantly surprised with the results. Roughly half a club longer throughout the bag, but extremely consistent distances. I live in fear of flyers and shots jumping- didn’t have any regardless of lie.

Noticeably more forgiving than the Dots especially on slightly thin contact, those launched a little lower than well struck shots but the distance loss was minimal. Off center shots held their line better with much less loss of distance. Turf interaction was great, club didn’t dig or get stuck in the ground when really hitting down on it.

I was a little caught off guard by the amount of spin I was getting with the 8-PW. I never have a problem holding greens, short irons generally stop next to their marks or back up a foot or two, these backed up a lot. Though there was no ballooning, not noticeably higher than the Dots, just something to keep an eye on in the upcoming rounds.

I hope to get them on a monitor and compare the real numbers but so far I’m pleased and looking forward to getting them dialed in with the right shafts.

The 770’s are a really big want of mine. They are perfect to my eye....but age and handicap probably will result in ruling them out.  Will hit and hope.

They are absolute beauties. I prob am a better fit to the p7mc but the 770 just to clean looking! And added forgiveness is never a bad thing!

Good point with the spin, I’ve actually had to change balls now from the chrome soft. Testing the tp5x, erc soft and chrome soft x. Chrome soft suited me around the greens, but with the 770s I’ve been spinning 8,9 and PW back quite a way.  Even spun a 7 iron 15 yards back off. (Very soft wet greens this time of year in Ireland) basically too much spin to be playable from the fairway. I do hit down too much, but ball flight wise that is working ok with the 770s.

so far the tp5x is quite neutral, but with the erc soft I seem to be getting ok spin around the greens and a nicer flight and just nice right amount of spin with irons.

generally a month or so in with the 770s they are really starting to work for me, I’ve adjusted my swing slightly with a nice almost 3/4 backswing and getting great results, the drop off on poor strikes with the x forged was a little much for me to be swinging easier but not an issue with 770s.  Main issue I’m having right now is that as temp goes down and I change ball  my distances are a bit hard to get control of. I expected to be adding a half a club around now as temps in Ireland are now about 11C on average.  With the 770 and erc soft, I’ve not had to change at all, and have it be careful to not fly the green on a shot that’s anyway dangerous over green. .  Mostly down to the way they interact with the ball I think.

i have been under the spell of the p770... haven't been able to hit them yet, but they look great and i feel like the target market for them.  i'm a fairly good ballstriker, but not really a high swingspeed player... so a little distance help isn't bad.  for reference, i'm gaming i200s right now and 7i is 165.

anybody compared the p770 to the i200 or 210?  looking at them in the store, the p770 is certainly a little smaller profile but doesn't look too scary.  i would consider throwing a p790 in the 4i slot, but maybe p770 is friendly enough.

the thing that surprised me the most was that comparing the 770 to the MC it wasn't a big difference.  less offset on the MC for sure, but top line and blade length looked very similar.  is this what others are seeing too?

i rarely hit full shots under 150 yds, so being able to control flight is important.  i've considered going CB 7-9, but if P770 is fairly comparable to i200 i'd feel comfortable.

i'm also considering looking at T100s with T200 in 4/5, but i was shocked to see that the cavity on the T200 4i is visible at address... the i210 and P790 look much better.  T100 4i looks a little scary.

i guess in the end, the p770 seems to sit in a pretty unique spot due to the holllow body/speedfoam... i'm having trouble figuring out the best direct comparisons.

How much offset would I be adding if I strengthened the lofts on my 770s? I’d like to get the gaps a little closer to my 790s as they are just a tad shy right now.

Toothy, I switched from i210 to P770 (also previously gamed i200).  The P770 are more compact, specifically in the long irons, since they are not progressive in size like the Pings.  However, I find them similarly forgiving.  I am not scared of the long irons at all.  My main reason for switching was turf interaction.  As a sweeper, I at times the thicker soles of the the i210s would disagree with me.  The looks certainly don’t hurt either, the 770s are sexy.  Honestly, they are my perfect club.  Clean lines, good performance, reasonable lofts and spin.  I think these are going to be a winner.

This is great feedback! I am also a sweeper.  I’m not too worried about the size, but good to hear it’s working for you.  I played AP2s for several years prior to the i200, it’s sounding a lot like the 770 might be visually closer to those, but still offer the extra distance and forgiveness I enjoy from the i200.  Might be time for a fitting to see what’s up!

I went 5-W in the t100-S and kept my 790 4i, because I liked the look of it better than t200 and it’s a rocket launcher.  You could do something like that if you want t100.

How is the workability of the 770s from the guys who have/have hit them. I am impatient and pulled the trigger on 770 heads I found from a fellow wrxer. I’m just gonna switch my shafts out of my gamers and see what happens. My main concern is the workability. I currently game P750s and just feel I get punished when I’m not swinging good with them(which is far to often). I do like to work the ball a little and I am concerned because a few different YouTube reviews stated they are actually a little hard to move around. I play a 790 3 iron and feel like I can work that either way if need be. So ideally the 770 should be the same, if not easier to work on the course, no? Appreciate any feed back! I’ll try to give my thought once I swap shafts and give the 770s a go.

I found them to be pretty workable. Controlling trajectory was excellent, working a draw didn't take much work, getting a fade was a little bit tougher.

They do want to keep things straight, but not so much so that manipulating ball flight is difficult.

I hope this isn't the case. My P770 7-pw are ordered with the PX 6.0's.......... if they are still on track for beginning of Nov. (Ordered 8/21)  it is going to be colder than heck here. If any longer, there will be snow on the ground (If not by November). I am sick of trying to make my 4-6 P790 (ordered on 8/21 also) try to blend with my Mizuno MP-5H 7-Pw. Even tweaked the Mizuno's a couple degrees stronger to cover gapping.....  😕

As above, no problem at all getting them to move a lot in either direction, just need a feel for what you need to do for it to happen, I find it easier to fade so have no issue hitting big low slices around trees etc.  I have found a draw can get away from you a little and add more yards that intended, eg a draw into a back left pin would need to be playing a yardage for middle of green to begin with allowing 5 yards or so extra for the draw.

I know this has been mentioned before, but I wanted to follow up since more and more people are getting their sets.

Is there a significant difference in forgiveness between the p7MC and the 921 Tour or are they relatively the same?

921 tour head looked larger to my eye, but not sure if thats just an optics issue of if that translates to mishits.

921T is definitely bigger than the 7MC, but not by too much. I haven't tried the 921T, but if I had to guess based on the design I'd say the 921T is a bit more forgiving. 7MC is not much more forgiving than a blade.

I’ve now ordered the 51 approach wedge in p770 to replace by 52 vokey in the bag, just found the turf interaction of the p770 PW so nice I was using it more and more instead of the 52, right up to around the green where it gives so much more margin for error and has basically no tendency to dig.

Couldn’t agree more with the last part especially. I’ve found the A wedge very easy to use for bump and runs. No digging but it still gets under the ball nicely on tight lies.
