Going back to an old set of clubs....Are these too old?

No. Drivers have been maxed on cor for years, so as long as it works, keep swinging. 4wd is solid and if you have confidence in it, keep swinging. Hybrid solid, classic forged CB that I'm sure some will say are old and lacking thin faced, hollow head filled with special Arby's sauce to make things go further.

 

In honor of your post, I'll game my Titleist bag (905R, 906F2, 690.CB's, OG SM OC wedges and Mil-Spec putter) for 9h tonight, because old gear is obsolete!

The only thing that may be obsolete are the grooves on those wedges depending how much they've been played. But the rest if it works then it's not obsolete.

As long as you don’t play USGA events, then they are good until 1/1/2024 (driver & putter excluded).

My favorite and go to irons are from ‘83. Nothing wrong with yours at all.

Guy I've been playing is using his old bag with that driver and some older Titleist irons. He sprays his diver at time but when he catches one it's deep. Real deep.

 

People shot par with those older clubs back a few years ago. Why would they be too old today?

Your scorecard doesn't care how old the clubs were used to get that score (unless it is a sanctioned USGA or tour level tournament that the irons and wedges must have grooves that are 2010 compliant).

Not at all ... once you put together a bag that works, I wouldn't change it unless a club breaks or the grooves are gone. I've gone back to using steel shafts in all of my clubs, except my driver, which uses a heavier fairway shaft instead of the common lighter shafts ... and all of my clubs have heaps of lead tape on the tops, backs, and hosels in order for me to dial them in just right.

The irons in my bag are from 1992. My SW is from 1999. It's not out of the ordinary for me to have a 30+ year old driver and 3w in the bag.
