Shafts break all the time. new ones at that. There's a 10 page thread in the tech section here of brand new Ventus TR shafts snapping in half as a fairly common occurrence - so just that sheer factor doesnt make something fake or not.

Agreed, however you're ignoring the other signs, such as the color being off when compared to the Golf Galaxy club and the holographic sticker placement. You're also ignoring that the seller bans you from future purchases for returning a club with a defective shaft. I left no negative review and never accused the seller of selling a fake since I initiated the return while in the parking lot, which was the same day I received the club. Only after the return was initiated, but not sent back just yet, did I compare to a club offline and saw obvious differences in the white color on the part of the shaft with the graphics. Then I saw the blog which might be out of date, but the placement of the stickers was certainly not where the blog said they should be.

I really don't understand your angle though. I'm merely sharing an experience of a club purchase and return that had a shaft breaks after 7 hits, the shaft coloring was off, and the seller bans a customer over a return. I even gave the seller the benefit of the doubt that they unknowingly sell fake clubs. Read the other posts on this site with the pxg irons and several other brands with the wrong fonts on the clubheads and shafts. Possible they sell 99.99% real but it's certainly not 100%.

Shafts and clubs break all the time, I had a Speeder Evo 661 IV break last month. I had a 2 month old Callaway Rogue ST crack along the back last year as well.

You have offered no real proof that your item was fake, so really its hard to say.

They are a well known seller of liquidated stock acquired from authorized retailers.  While it's not impossible, I highly doubt they're selling fakes (unknowingly or otherwise).  Unfortunately, part of the risk/reward of buying clearance items from eBay is not being able to go straight to the manufacturer with a warranty claim.

To update, I played with an alternate on our Sunday group a few days ago. He used to be an amateur on the tour and basically knows everything there is to know about clubs inside and out, or so his caddie (close friend of mine) says. He really keeps up with this stuff. His opinion is that being unsold stock of a Japanese club that was about 4 years old, it's likely that the clubs were improperly stored in some warehouse which would explain both the discoloration and weakened shaft. He also stated some of these warehouses aren't fully covered, and if it was sitting around too long there could be sun exposure. Also he was familiar with Quickshipgolf/tee2green/ksouth9 and thinks they get a lot of TGW stuff.

So it sounds like I just got a bad club and got blocked for returning it.

Well that solves it. Your friends friend is definitely the authority on all golf clubs.

Fwiw some 4 years ago I bought a TM driver from QSG.

They advertised the shaft as a 60 gram shaft and supposedly a wrench was included.

Turns out it was a 50 gram shaft and there was no wrench.

They took the return no problem but banned me from bidding on their stuff.

In the last 6 months or so, just to find out if I was still banned, I bid on a very low priced item knowing it wouldn't fly and lo and behold, the bid "took".

So I guess, after long enough on their banned list, they release you from their jail. :classic_laugh:

@Mizunofanboi My friend, you have no pics to show and "they" can't tell you it's genuine.

So there's nowhere to go with this anymore - just fuggedaboutit !!! :classic_wink:

So you think he's wrong and the club was a fake? His story sounds the most logical so far. Explains weak and discolored shaft. What's your take?

I think there was user error. The discolored shaft and bad logo are hearsay because you provided no proof.
