ALDILA RIPX Shaft

I just got an 85 TX to put in a SIM 5 wood. Late night BST purchase needed a shaft to go with it ?

I just was able to get a rip 95TX for pretty cheap. Interested to see how it performs against my atmos black. Hoping it is more anti left like you say.

I pulled the trigger on a 95tx so it’s getting built up for the 3 wood and I grabbed a 75tx also. Hopefully this shaft will do what I need it to do and not go left

I am low 120s with a driver. It is tipped 1”. So we will see how it plays.

Just got my 75TX in to try it out. I play the 85TX in my 3wd and like it. It was aaaaallllll over the place for me. Keep your eye out on the BST if you are interested. Ha!

Agreed. I've been 80/90 in fairway woods for ages now and I swear that a vast majority of players would be better off going 1"-1.5" shorter and up a weight class or two in their fairways. I've been lucky enough to track down the KK XTS' in 80/90/100g and I wish the marketing push over the last decade hadn't largely done away with the 90/100 category.

I always liked the heavy fairway setup. I use to game the diamana blue board 103x and I think the market changed over time. We’ll see if this 95 fits in my 3wood like I’m hoping and eliminates the left side for me so I can have another go to club and shot off the tee. I went back to a more standard fairway setup with 43/42 with 3&5 woods but I’m going back to 42.5 3 wood and possibly 41.5 5 wood but if not it might become a new 5 wood shaft.

Another one who agrees. There is a real lack of 80+ gram shafts for fairway woods, especially among the major OEMs. If you are playing 115 to 130 gram iron shafts and then have to move down to 60 gram in your fairway wood, it is a huge tempo change.

I used to game upper 80g and want to go back. Back then I really needed the heavier stiff shafts to keep launch and spin under control. Now I’ve tried 70g and got along with them but never really anywhere near as controlled for me. I can actually swing 80g + just as fast as I can 70g and it actually more controllable for me because I use my full body to generate and time everything vs arms with the lighter shafts.

Makes complete sense. I tried 60gram shafts and felt like it was my first time hitting a driver as I had no clue where it might go. I haven’t ventured back to the 80 gram for a driver since the mid 70 range shaft has worked well for me for a bit. I don’t generate the swing speed you do but the extra weight always felt good

Wondering for if anyone else, non TX users has been gaming this shaft? I've been gaming the 75 Stiff for the last 4 months and its been one of the best shafts I've used. I'm around 107-110 and I bounced back and forth from the Pro white 70tx and Ventus black 6x for the past yr and took a chance on the 75 stiff tipped .75. Hear all about the success of the TX users just curious if anyone else is having positive results in the Stiff flex? I have it in a Sim 9* and its been a solid mid flight with low spin even in the stiff flex.

After a week long usps debacle, my 85tx has arrived! Got it cut and glued a couple hours ago so I’ll hopefully get to go try it out tonight at the range.

Yep I’m excited to get back into the mid 80 weight range. I’m able to keep my normal length of 45” and can take weight out of the head and not have to tip it a mile. I play d6-d7 and usually have had to play a headweight of 210-215g and tip lighter shafts a ton. I had a 12g weight in the g410lst and but got a 6g weight as well that I’ll test with.

Any of you RIPX players also gamed the synergy black or green proto?

yes and yes. I’m just getting acquainted with the 85tx rip in the driver and just had my first range session with it. In terms of performance, I would say the rip is very similar to the synergy black. Now it’s been 2 years since I’ve hit the black and had a very different head in it so it would be tough for me to really compare feel.

I had the green proto in my fairways and now I have a ripx in my 5 wood and love it. Tipping and length are key as I originally got the 95tx for my 3 wood and tried in in my 5 wood and it was perfect with the length I choked down and the tipping. I like the ripx feel a little more than the green proto. I’ve never gamed the black so I can’t speak on that but to me the ripx has a more crisp feel throughout the swing and when you strike the ball.

Is anyone able to compare vs. the Xtorsion Green Mamba?

 

I play the Green Mamba in my 3 wood and I’m contemplating testing either the same or the RipX in the driver.

 

Enjoyed the Kuro XD and particularly the Diamana DF in the driver previously.
