Walking on putting line

 Here in AZ most of the time you could drive a dump truck over the green and not make a dent.  That being said 99.9% of the players would rather be dragged through cactus than intentionally step on a putting line.  We walk around, long step over etc.  I've always found it a charming part of the ritual.

I stay out of the way of putting lines.  Ammys don't need more excuses

most of the time in the northeast it’s very different, we leave big marks.  But I think the same 99.9% exist here, we try hard not to step in each other’s lines, but it can make a difference here for sure

For the most part everyone in my playing groups avoid stepping on lines.  If you can't finish out you mark your ball.  Just the way it is.  Also we have a combo of regular sneakers, spikeless, and the replaceable plastic spike shoes.  I've been wearing spikeless now for about 3 season and I love them, I only notice "dents" on wet or very soft greens and I am a big dude.  With new shoes I notice the puncture marks of the "spikeless" spikes.  

 

For the most part though, I am not fussed about people walking on my line.  I'm more worried about the 10 pitch marks that were improperly fixed or the spike marks left behind because people don't pick up their feet when walking.  Even spikeless shoes tear up greens when you do an about face instead of turning around nicely.
