Sorry man. I’ll let you know when it arrives just in case you want to see it. Where are you located?

Toronto and all good. Like I know these are good but still have this worry about 3D printed metal.

I’m pretty pumped to get it in my hands. It’s Mokume Gane. Is a mixture of copper and silver.  This is what it will eventually look like once the patina comes back.

A material I have never rolled, but am certainly attracted to.  Let the acid etching begin.

Thank you for sharing.

Such an interesting finish on these putters,  almost appears to be milled the way the printing is done....or like the whole thing was ground on a wheel from a solid block. It'd be awesome to get a look at how they manufacture them and how much hand work is required after the initial printing is finished.... but seeing as there the only guys I know of doing it this way they probably aren't looking to give away any secrets quite yet lol.

They posted a video on their story a week or two ago, basically the same as this video. The amount of hand grinding depends on what you want done.

The first time I laid eyes on a 3D printed putter was a Round 4 design.  Can anyone confirm is Al was involved in both ventures?  I suspect this is the case.

I remembered thinking that they looked like 3D printed plastic, due to the texture, and I wasn't a huge fan. The technology and finishing processes have obviously progressed. It's been really cool to see the variety of finishes offered.  Lots of hand softening is now visible. You would never know that the heads were 3D printed unless you were abreast of the processes.

That's what I've been weary off too, yes I know it's metal and metal is much stronger than plastic but I've seen some 3D printed plastic items crumble like nothing. The extra grinding and hand softening kinda eases my mind a bit on that.

From a metallurgical sense, how does 3d printed compare to cast and machined and forged?  Seems to me these would be a bit weak in the neck area due to how the material is laid down and the grain structure, or lack of grain structure, that you would get from forging or forge welding the neck to the blade or creating a flow neck design.

Some killer pics in this thread!

I'm happy to answer any questions you guys have.

I'm obviously biased but these putters are amazing. Above all else I'm a huge putter and club HO and I've never had a putter before that performs like these. Again I'm obviously biased at this point but the performance of these putters was proven to me before NCW decided to partner with these guys to make them so my amazement with their performance is the genesis of them becoming the putter makers for NCW.

To answer the question above, yes the Round 4 team lead by Al Vikmanis are our partners on these.

Also to answer another question strength is not something you have to worry about with 3d printed metal. It's alot different than 3d printing plastic. There are a bunch of different methods but here's an example of 3d printing that produces a product that's stronger than any other stainless steel.

https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2017/10/3d-printing-doubles-strength-stainless-steel#:~:text=Tests showed that under certain, report today in Nature Materials

The method and material we use is different from the above but it produces a steel that is very strong and ideal for making putters.

Any other questions just let me know!

Just like any of our clients I'm anxiously awaiting my new mallet that's in production.

I've added a screen shot of the CAD rendering.

Right now gaming a Campbell that I really love.  This is our version of a fanged mallet.  Here's some pics of my favorite Campbell that we just finished for a client with a hickory shaft!

Thank you for answering my question Ari and sharing your putter pictures (handsome as always).  I've conversed with Al a few times on IG.  Incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. I wasn't certain if we was connected with the Round 4 venture, but a video he posted gave me pause for thought.

From what I know about the process they lay it all down and then it is tempered in an oven to meld the two metals together creating on cohesive surface.

You can get them hand polished/softened to look more like a milled putter.

The new stick is in my hands. Even better than anticipated. We built it at 367grams and it turned out perfect. Paired with a white kbs ct tour 120shaft. So excited to get it out on the course tomorrow afternoon. Al is a great individual to work with and he blew away my expectations. @FairwayFred You have a gem involved with your group down in Florida. Will be a return client.
