I can attest to the detail and design process. Al is a wonderful builder and talented CAD designer. I am doing a custom shape, with specs built off of conversation and lots of videos sent to him and Ari. Of all the NCW pieces I have purchased, the putter has been the most fun one to build. The anticipation or getting the finished stick is a daily thought, and I am so confident that the putter will be perfect due to the time spent on design and going back and forth with Al. Stoked on this segment of NCW. Their roster of makers is of another world and level.

I've been looking at their putters a lot lately and also asking Al a ton of questions on their Tuesday questions. I think I'm kinda set on The Morris for head shape but I don't plan on buying one for a long time because well they're not cheap and the exchange rate is insane for me. But this will just give me more time to save up, plan one out and be 100% sure on the putter. 

 

Now only if I can get one in my hands to see and feel it first, but that may not happen.

Al has my Morris back in this shop right now. I played with it for about 2 months and we decided that it needed a bit of a facelift. I have honestly never putted better. Al is polishing/blasting it, putting on a new face, and adding 10 grams of weight to make it 350g and give it about 10 degrees of toe hang.

 

Should have it in hand this week and will put it to the test at Streamsong this weekend. I will post some updated photos.

I kinda know what I want, like it would be the Morris but I want a topline that is just a bit thicker which would make it obviously longer front to back which appeals to my eyes and seen in the gamers I gravitate to. Flow neck most likely, half offset, toe hang just a touch more than a plumbers neck and weight at 360-365g. This setup would have a stupid amount of MOI as I believe Al said he gets the highest amount of MOI in blades with flow necks.

 

Then I'd have to decide about finish, polish work, the face I'd want, etc, etc. But the biggest will be the lie and loft, as I'm working on my putting stroke I don't want to buy a putter in specs that could change as my stroke develops. So I kinda want a spec that I feel comfortable at.

I received my putter back from Al at NCW on Friday and took it out to Streamsong on Saturday and Sunday. The refinish came out awesome. The face was removed and the putter was sanded, blasted, and sanded again. Then he added 10 grams of weight to the toe to give it 10% offset and installed the new face. This feels as good as it looks, awesome work as usual.

That new face is sweet, love the super unique touch they do. 

 

How does it feel with the heavier weight?

No real noticeable difference (10 grams) in feel. The reason that we did it was because I was coming up short on my longer putts. My pace on long putts was good over the weekend but the sample size is small.

Gotcha, I know for some 10g can make a big difference. I guess it depends on the putter and person, But the face is definitely a step up.

Well didn't think I'd own a NCW putter for a while but while home waiting for my COVID tests results (was negative btw) and nothing to do I was browsing eBay and just so happened to come across a LH Boyd in almost my exact stats, price wasn't bad but threw an offer and it was accepted so I'm kinda giddy now. It's not my favorite shape they offer maybe 3rd or 4th

 

Al messaged me on IG after I posted the putter on my story and said if I want a new face, putter sanded or re-weighted I can send it in and get that done. Will depend on what I think about it but also kinda bring it back to life if I decide to move it.

 

Just waiting for shipping detail and will be here in a few weeks.

Picked up my Boyd last night and honestly in person these putters look and feel great. Don't let the finish fool you these are well built putters. Haven't had a chance to roll it much or take photos as I've been swamped at work but here are the eBay pics. 

 

 

Also may or may not be in talks with Al right now about a custom Morris 🤷‍♂️

You can get them polished to get rid of the 3D printed layers.

Yes, this thread has photos revealing different finishes, but none of them look good to me.

Again, consumers have different tastes. What one player likes another player may not like.

I like the technology behind the build, the uniqueness, etc. It's definitely different and unique which is what I like about it. Something different than all the milled putters out there but again that's just my take.

My, my I've been lazy. Need to send Al my spec/build for my Morris and also some video so we can determine loft. 

 

Want to get this out in the next few weeks so I have a putter for when the snow melts here.

Depending how raw it doesn't look bad at address but I do agree the polished look way better.

Check out the patina after a month!  So much darker.  Love it. This putter is just absolutely amazing. My most frequent playing partner who I play a match with a couple times a week would really like it if I'd go back to my old putter!  Hahaha

I am eyeballing the Nicholl blade. I’m assuming you could do a similar neck with half shaft offset like your mallet?

Yes that's no problem.  There's virtually nothing that we cant do with these putters.  Best part is they perform better than anything else out there because they moi is 130% higher.
