HELP: Epon 305 versus 303?

Look very similar in pics, not seen the 305 in person.

Hope this helps and I know it's a little late.  I don't check the forums that often.  I was fit in April by Joe Kwok  here in the SF Bay, for a set of 305's with Shimada tour shafts.  Both have exceeded my expectations.  I was playing a set of mp 18 sc's prior and was looking to keep a great forged feel, the ability to hit different shots, consistency, but most importantly get more forgiveness on off center shots.

 

Noticing you are playing a set of CB-57's.  They are going to look wider than your Miura's, however that wasn't an issue for me.  Visually the cavity is going to look deeper at address, however the leading edge on the iron cuts through the turf well and the wide sole on the bottom has a step to it.  In my mind because of those details they still retain the turf interaction of a smaller cavity back.  However, with the weight moved around with the deep cavity, I have had much better distance dispersion than with the Mizuno's.  These are not GI irons, they provide help on off center hits, but are still going where your swing takes them and their lofts are not juiced.  Just 1 degree stronger than a set of blades.  As for shot making, I have had no issue hitting any of my preferred shots.  I can hit low cuts into the wind, play a controlled draw, or flight them up.

 

All in all, if you can't tell I love them.  If you are looking for more forgiveness than the Miura's while keeping a great Japanese forging feel, I would definitely recommend them.  These irons are not leaving my bag until the grooves are raw.  If you are looking for a direct replacement, then you would want to get comfortable with how they look at address.

 

Side note the Shimada tour's are firm and smooth.  Just amazing shafts.  Worth a look if your fitter has them.
