Most golfers who struggle with driver won't hit 3W any better. 3W is the hardest club to hit for most players. Better suggestion would be to just use the longest club they can hit reliably and play as if bogey is par.

Unpopular opinion: Most golfers would be better off with driver playing a fade with a lower tee height and negative angle of attack compared to trying to hit a draw with a high tee and upwards angle of attack. The misses would be way more playable even if they gave up a few yards on their best strikes.

Your irons may have a straight shaft but they still have offset because of the hosel unless you're playing some serious blades.

I have no idea how a double bend makes putting easier plus a double bend has little to no offset and a plumbers neck has a full shaft of offset. So ok you ban those what about flow necks? I can get a flow neck made with a full shaft of offset if I want.

And what does a flat portion on a grip do? Somehow make someone putt better? actually most people putt better with a round grip, so I guess those should be illegal then.

Your points make zero sense.

You know, if Bryson is already at 5.5°, here is an unpopular opinion:

there is no rule that says you can’t have two putters, right?

so if his “putter” is at less than 6, can’t he get a square grip installed on it?

I had a Chip-O. Wanted to fall in love with it for cool-retro-bonus points.

It has a tiny clubhead, narrow sole and sharp leading edge. Chipping with a Ping G 9-iron was so much more forgiving in every way it wasn't even funny.

I could see the point of Chip-O if your irons were Macgregor Tourney blades or something. But having a specialty chipper that is the least forgiving club in the bag is kind of weird IMO.

From August 18, 2021 I will be away from GolfWRX for a while.

Here’s one. The USGA and the strict rules of golf care nothing about me and I care nothing about them. A hard and fast rule at my club is that you never hit off roots where you could injure yourself or damage a club. Actually we roll it everywhere. And as a good friend says, if you don’t improve your lie here, you’ll be scratching a poor man’s butt when you leave. It’s about having some fun. None of us are on TV.

-You, YES YOU reading this; you don’t need 14 clubs.

-Stop with the “dress code”. Let me wear whatever tf I want. How is a t-shirt offending you that much. Life is short, chill Karen.

-Music/podcast are a great way to enjoy walking rounds. Again life is short, chill Karen.

First is an unpopular opinion, the other 2 are rants bc I’m seeing a lot of “obey the dress code/no music or get fined” people.

Partial agree. I don't give a rat's backside, do not play a shot that will result in injury. I won't say "roll it everywhere", but exposed tree roots to me are an abnormal condition! Roots are supposed to be underground, not exposed, therefore you should get relief. I'm mostly "play it as it lies", but that, or a ball resting on stones… either shouldn't be on a course. (Note: if it's in a hazard, tough tatas. Take the pen.)

Cinnamon Toast Crunch all the way, there is no close 2nd. The rest of you who say otherwise must be out of your mind or have diet of a toddler.Beefy Bryson is only watchable off the tee. I'm sure he's a good dude, but the rest of his game is like watching a golf robot.Changing your equipment every year or two (or even 3) is a waste of money for the common golfer. But hey, if you like shiny things or want to emulate your favorite pro, go for it.Lay off of Koepka. We need more "bad guys" to spice things up sometimes. More trash talk!PXGs are fugly.

Hey a lot of us like shiny things for their own sake, nothing to do with whatever the guys on TV use.
Me, I just like buying stuff. Whether it's golf or electronic gadgets or musical instruments or whatever. So of course I'm constantly buying golf clubs!

90% of recreational golfers should not be playing from the standard "mens tees" and would have a much better playing experience from the forward or even " ladies tee".

Also in my opinion, there should be no mens or ladies tees, but each tee should have a recommended avg driving distance or iron distance associated with them to help the avg golfer better gauge what tee box they should be teeing off from.

Fitness should be a fundamental part to golf instruction

Ladies tees and tee names should go away.  Handicap and driving distance should determine your tee.  I have seen a few courses that  lay it out this way.  If you cannot reach the majority of the par 4's with a 7/8/9 iron after an average drive you are playing the wrong tees.

There is a guy that plays in my Friday group is 70, but refuses to play the "senior" tees, there are at least 6 par 4's he plays that he cannot reach in two.  He doesn't want to give up the two extra shots he gets to play the "senior" tees.  He plays fast and to his handicap most days so no one says anything, but I just don't understand.

1) A well designed 6200 yard course is much more difficult than a mostly straight 6800 yard course.  (of course, my personal struggle is accuracy, not distance).

2) Most Pro-V1 users are using the wrong ball

3) If there was no alcohol served on the golf course, there would be no 4+ hour rounds. (well maybe still a few, but not nearly as many)

I'm not sure how much they help, but how are "self-correcting" putters like Evnroll legal? Where the grooves get wider in the center of the face, so balls hit off-center have the same speed as those hit on the sweet spot?

Center-shafted woods are illegal, non-round shafts are illegal, grooves too deep are illegal, concave faces are illegal, putters longer than they are wide are illegal, drivers over 460ccs are illegal, clubs over 48" are illegal, flat spots on grips for irons and woods are illegal, but putter faces that self-correct are legal? Why?
