Junior Fitting w/ Junior Shafts?

I have a (just turned) 11 year-old son who plays competitively. He's getting along nicely with Flynn equipment, but we just recently swapped out his Driver, FW, and Hybrid with adult heads mated to Flynn OEM shafts. I believe he's strong enough to start looking at swapping the Flynn wedges out for adult wedges, but he's short for his age (53"), so I figured I'd still likely need to purchase Flynn shafts to put in them.

That said, how does one go about allowing him to try different clubs to see what feels best when Flynn shafts can only be ordered online? Is this a situation where, likely, anything will work fine so just pick something and go with it? It's such a transitional age, I'm just at a bit of a loss as how to best help him move forward in equipment without setting him back by choosing something wrong (even as simple as steel vs. graphite shafts in the wedges).

I would put him into ladies clubs. Most 11 year olds are hitting it over 200. The junior shafts will probably be too whippy.

Just cut down the ladies' shaft? I wasn't sure if he was too short for that at 53".

I agree 11 is when you can start looking for adult clubs, but his height is what concerns me. I'd keep him in junior clubs a bit longer unless he's strong.

After 57" is the time switch out for competitive golfer.

It certainly wouldn’t hurt. My kid started using adult ladies flex driver shafts at 7 (49” tall). It was lighter than Flynn’s and felt better to him.

Take him in and let him swing the ladies clubs. You can probably saw an 1" to 1 1/2" off without changing the dynamic of the shaft.

My 11yo is also just 53" and he's using ladies shafts in his woods and hybrid. The one downside is that they are a little thicker than the Flynn shafts, so you have to use a ladies grip which is bigger than junior grips. That was the biggest adjustment, more so than weight or flex of the shafts. We're using Aldila Quaranta 40 shafts.

Jr grip should be ok. I have a Grand Bassara 39 in L flex cut to 36” finished length (same as US Kids TS3 54), which is good for kids between 54” and 57” tall. I was able to put on a Winn Jr grip myself. The shaft is thicker for sure, but a Jr grip still fits on it.

Junior grip will definitely fit into ladies shaft. I struggled and mangled a couple, but when I took it to a local shop, they slipped it on w/o any issues

I've seen a few people talk about using a UST Recoil F3 wedge shaft but I'm honestly not sure where to purchase them.

Sorry I cannot help but I have a similar situation. I am leaning towards KBS 560/580 junior shafts.
