He liked the feel of the M5T so much he was willing to part with the sldr tp.  It IS considerably more forgiving but like all hits, it wants a good one...

They are great... Beautiful, smooth, very forgiving and EXTREMELY LONG.

Thats the reason I have to move on and am selling mine, they are too long. I know its not a problem for a lot of folks but, I have gamed a Variation of ping irons fo the last few years and these are 15 yards longer. I am puring shots and hitting them 10-15 yards over the green.

A little back ground I am an 8.4 index (I would say long irons 4-6, are my weakness). I have gone the the blade / players irons route in the past but, with my kids sports I am gettin out less and prefer a GI club.

My normal yardages with my Ping G irons / 919 HM's:

4i: 220 / 235

5i: 202/215

6i: 188/200

7i: 174/190

8i: 162/175

9i: 150/165

w: 138/155

This has really made my shortgame difficult as the gaps between my scoring wedges and the hot metals are too much for me. I want to love them so much, I really like everything about them but, the distances make them near unplayable for me. I hit a 7i flush and it went 194yds. I don't want my 7i doing that. If you need help with distance i highly recommend these clubs. They are just for lack of a better word too hot for me. I can see how these would be a dream club for someone looking for a beautifull, forgiving distance club.

with that said, anyone else having problems with the distance on the new irons? I am looking to sell my 919 HMs and buy something in the next week or so? Any recommendations that I should be looking at?

I did a demo with the Hot Metal Pros and loved them. Currently I have the MB MP20's. I liked the Hot Metals so much I went ahead and ordered them. My only concern is the distance. Like Greggj77 said I'm concerned about the gapping. I will see how it plays out when I get my set in this week.

Miss hits with the Hot Metals feel great compared to my Blades.

That's a lot of yardage under your p wedge to cover. You may not be the target market for the hot metals.

These are the longest and most forgiving irons I’ve ever played.  I hit my irons a long way.  The 5 iron I can hit 230 at times but let’s face it, it is more like old school 3 iron lofts.  I will likely be switching to the 921 forged to dial it back a bit.

In-law has them, thinks he's a monster hitter. it is pretty funny as JP doesn't think he understands what is going on.

Jack Pearsall would never rain on his parade...

Are the Hot Metals or the Forged the hot/distance iron?  Based on this thread, the 4 iron might be a forgiving iron off the tee.  Anyone gone this route?

The Hot Metals and HM Pros are the hot/distance iron due to Chromoly.

If you have the speed, yes, the 4i would be fine off the tee.

The 919F are 1025E. The 921F are hotter due to Chromoly but still not as hot from all reports as the 921 HM and HMP. Remember the 921F in 8-PW are 1025, the 4-7i are Chromoly because the benefits of Chromoly in that iron are reduced in the scoring irons 8-PW. And while the 921 HM and HMP are slightly longer heel to toe this year in the longer irons, 921 F are slightly smaller heel to toe and the 8-PW are also shorter heel to toe but with a higher MOI due to thinner face and more consistent speed across the face. The 919F were a little long heel to toe in the 8-GW to my taste. And this year, they reduced offset in the 921F

Thanks @SwingMan . Based on your summary above, the hottest would go 921 HM >> 921 HMP >> 921 Forged?

Don't know if there'd be much of a difference between HM and HMP - need to hit them. It would also depend on a proper fit and playability - how they interact with the turf and your swing. And sometimes a bigger clubhead is heavier and doesn't play as well. Just gotta hit them and see. You want consistency.
