Remove smoke smell from SC headcover?

Bought a used headcover off eBay and this thing smells like an ashtray. It’s bad, smelling up the whole room.

I got it for a decent price ($20) and I don’t know if it’s worth the cost/hassle of sending it back. I might try to wash it in the sink. Read some stuff online about using baking soda.

Any other ideas? Are these hand washable? Obviously they get rained on so I’m thinking I may try it, but if I do I can’t send it back.

Should I try washing or lost cause? Any tips for getting the smell out?

I would just fill a bucket with water and laundry detergent and let it sit in there for a few minutes.

Smokers have no idea how much their stuff stinks.

Soak it in Febreeze and let it dry in the sun, might have to do this more than once.

Mix up 1/3 water,vinegar, & baking soda. Soak it for a few hours and let it dry in the sun.

if you can't return it, once I got one that was pretty smoky

let it air outside on the porch with cedar sticks inside it for about a week

Once purchased a limited edition bag off this site.  Opened the box and it was like a punch in the face.   Tried everything.  Ended up donating the bag...

Nothing will work. I had a Tibor fishing reel case that came and it reeked of smoke. I tried Febreeze, tried washing it, tried setting it outside for two days in the sun - tried everything. No matter what as soon as I smelled it again - smoke smell hit you in the face. 

 

I tossed it and spent the money on a new case. IMO you will always be able to smell it enough that it will bother you.

Any die hard deer hunting friends?  Use some of their scent elimination sprays for clothing and see if those might work.

Appreciate all the replies. I let it sit out on the porch for two weeks and that drastically reduced the stink. It still smells if I stick my nose in it but it isn’t stinking up the car or closet which was my main concern.
