Just arrived! The offset is going to take a little bit of time to get used to, but overall it looks and feels great. Excited to get it into play.

Awesome. Hit em good and enjoy the new club.

Getting a good, reliable DI / utility has been my white whale for some time.

The closest I got to finding it was when I picked up a JDM hollow-cavity utility (A-Grind CMB in a strong 3 iron with a heavy, stiff graphite shaft). Was pretty pleased with it and it feels awesome, but it was still flying a little high and not getting that strong penetrating flight that I was looking for. It felt like something between a long-iron and a hybrid. Pic below.

It finally hit me that if I wanted something more like an iron, then I should just get a strong long iron and use that. Ordered a power-spec P770 3i with an MMT 95S shaft and played a couple of rounds with it this weekend. Took some time to get over the fact that compared to some of the chunky utilities, this looks like a blade. Thin(ner) top-line, much less offset, shorter blade length - everything that I wanted. It's obviously not a blade, but compared to the usual suspects of utilities available, it definitely looks like one. Actually feels and looks closer to my irons (Miura CB-1008), so blends in nicely. Pic of the P770 3-iron and my Miura 5-iron below for comparison.

Performance has been just awesome. Feel is amazing, and a well struck shot goes exactly where you want it to go - not left like a lot of other utilities want to go (at least for me). And it is amazing through the turf. Just cuts through the rough and plays like a nice, long iron from the fairway. I have actually dropped my 4 hybrid because I just keep reaching for this club every chance I get.

There is one other club that I want to try out against this - a strong Ping i500 3 iron - to see which one works better off the tee and gives me more options overall. But I may have found my unicorn!

Went through quite a few 2 irons and utilities before going on a whim and buying a Cobra SpeedZone 4ir, one degree to 18*. Really, it can be hit from any lie, and pretty much anywhere on the face, and still go. It definitely wants to launch a little higher than I was looking for, but not hard to mess with ball position, etc. to get flight down. Originally thought the offset or silly carbon thing on top would throw me off, but hardly notice.

As others have said about different clubs, it feels like cheating.

Got a Titleist U510 2 iron this week with an Evenflow White 6.5 90G shaft. It's kind of an anomaly...not sure how I feel about it. I Hit it like 247 on a string from the rough yesterday on course. On the driving range, it seems to go anywhere between 200 and 240 yards. I recognize that the range balls are slightly limited fight and more spinny than my Snell MTB-X, but I'm hitting it to the moon. May end up looking for something else, because as it stands, it isn't different enough from my Ping G20 4W (5 wood length) in terms of distance and/or accuracy.

It feels like this current setup, I have to REALLY go after it to get the best performance out of it. If I try to smooth it, it tends to end up short and to the right. When I step on it is when it seems to perform best, but ballstriking tends to suffer a bit.

May take a look at a Mizuno HMB 2i and a low-low shaft so I can get some run.

I have Cally UT 27 and 30 but if I have to play for money I go with my Apex 5h and a 6 iron

In the 3i slot I have gone 7 wood .. which seems like a trend now in the big

In the 4 slot I have tried a mother load of utility and long irons

… but always go back to Apex 4h

I used to love the original Fli Hi when I was younger and played Mp33 and Mp37 for a long run

Haha yea!

We have this awesome shop here called "Your Golfball Shop" and they sell used golfballs. It's really cool. It was actually featured on Sportscenter years ago. Anything from value grade through top grade (AAAAA). And so many brands.

Today I grabbed some ProV1 that were marked value grade, but look awesome. Been wanting to try to ProV1 since they made it lower spin off the driver a few years ago. but now I can't wait to get to the range in the mornin!

This friggin website, man.....

I've apparently moved from fairway wood obsessed to driving iron obsessed....

I added a 3rd competitor to the driving iron shootout yesterday. Mizuno HMB 2i with DG X100 bent 2* strong ? Should ship this coming week sometime.

Then went to the range this morning and was hitting the U510 and the SIM UDI pretty well.

I think I'm gonna play a handful of rounds with 2i only off the tee, and pick a winner, and sell off the rest.

I've got issues, man.

Must admit there are two terms in golf I massively disagree with. One is referring to an Anser putter as a "blade", as it has an enormous cavity in the back, and the other is the "utility" iron, as I don't find them particularly useful or versatile - and I love long irons. They are typically great for playing off the tee, very very average everywhere else in my experience.

So my "utility" iron is a Nike VR Pro 4 iron. Great off the tee, even better off the deck, good for punching out (I do that a lot), and if I'm swinging well I can hit stingers, high fades, low draws, the lot with it.

I do too...I just still seem to hit it too high. What shaft do you play in yours?

I think some of these newer ones are pretty dang good as utilities. The Titleist U510 is long off the tee, but I hit it from the deck 4 times last round and it was awesome. Long, high, straight. Hit it both from the deck and out of the rough. Some of the older, skinnier more blade-style 2irons, I would agree with you, but I think as they put more and more tech into these things, they are true utility irons. Not quite a traditional hybrid, but more than a traditional iron.

I've tried loads of newer ones and i always sell and go back to these, closest to them was the Gapr Mid, but still prefer the Adams, been in my bag for as long as i can remember

My U500 2 iron is mostly used off the tee.

On the occasion I need it for my second shot on par 5s or long par 4s it is also fairly easy to hit off the turf.

Its also a great club for when I am under trees.   I can hit this low punch cut that only goes about 5 feet off the ground, but seems to carry forever.

Picked up a U510 2i not too long ago with a stock HZRDUS Smoke 6.0, 80g. It's the only U iron shaft I've tried, so I have nothing else to compare it to. I've heard a few folks on here say the Smoke is very firm throughout the shaft. Has anyone tried a Tour Atmos HB, Tour AD HB, and/or Velocore HB in a U iron yet?

I wouldn't mind paying up and getting a Velocore HB blue for this, but I'm curious if anyone here can share some experience.

My Titleist u510 2-iron might be my favorite club in the bag right now. It beat out my TS2 5-wood and fits perfectly with the lofts on my T200's (4 iron is 21 and the u510 is 18).

I also have the 1-iron but that one is a little harder to hit and dont think it will out duel my TS2 3-wood...

I tried out a lot of these, ended up in the King Utility. To me it was the most forgiving and had the most consistent distance. I also found trajectory the most consistent, wasn't much change in ball height on my shots. Loft is also adjustable - I rarely change that, but I could see switching it to suit a specific tee shot on your home club.
