2020 PGA Championship: Glory's Only Shot

By that logic throwing your club against a tree is "natural forces". Your interpretation of the rule is NOT correct.

You ARE allowed to replace your club if you break it through the course of a valid golf swing.

You ARE NOT allowed to replace your club if you break it by slamming it into the ground and then leaning on it.

Watch the replay and watch when the club breaks. Case closed.

Hate to be cynical...

Maybe Bryson purposely broke that shaft bec he didn't like it, then knowing local rule allows him to "fix" a broken equipment he swapped it with a "back-up" shaft

??

And did he keep the same setting he previously had? Two swings with the back-up shaft and they’re both on the fairway.

Let’s send 1m tweets to the PGA stating that after an official ruled Bryson could replace he should still be penalized or disqualified

Just for clarity, @bscinstnct is correct. "Starting in 2019, this is a local rule that’s in effect for the PGA Championship, for which a club is significantly damaged and breaking the pieces would meet the standard,” said PGA Rules Committee member Brad Gregory during the ESPN broadcast. “If this happens without abusing the club — if Bryson would have slammed it into the ground, for instance — that would be a different story. But since it happened without abusing it, he would be allowed to replace it."
To use your words. Case closed. Big Bad Bryson is coming for Tiger!!!

Brysons Shaft was most likely only tipped .0025” maybe they’ll go a bit stiffer next time ?

when people say “case closed” they’re usually wrong.

He didn’t slam it at all after the shot. it’s in video. Stop trying to just “be right” because your argument is a fallacy.

if it was cracked during the swing and head falls off while picking up his tee it’s ok to replace. That’s more likely what happened other than what you’re trying to sell.

Love it. I want to see Bryson yelling at the fire ants. When did this happen? Maybe I missed the footage of him abusing his driver just before he leaned on it to pick up his tee. Sick of this b/s coverage where I miss all the controversial stuff. If he's yelling at rules officials and camera operators as well, then, kick him off the tour Doug!

Guys, hear me out. What if Bryson and Tiger get paired on the weekend. Let’s say tiger hits a bad drive with his driver but runs over to Bryson’s bag, grabs Brysons driver and snaps it in half. What’s the ruling there?

Ha! I’m thinking it goes against BD.

Meantime, clutch par save. BD can putt. I wonder he goes on a serious run or 2 this week and puts some distance between him and the field. Got serious confidence. He could get derailed if he hits wild off the tee a few times. But if he keep this up, he could win big.

Live by the sword, die by the sword. If BD can keep it together with a somewhat hot putter I could see him winning majors. As you said, a bad driver swing on Sunday could destroy him but I guess that’s everyone.
