I hope Lydia plays well but I'll take the under on her putting up numbers like 2014-2016 or becoming the greatest golfer of all-time. 20 wins / 3 majors (total) would be a pretty good (if not very good) outcome in my mind at this point.

She's been on the path to become the greatest golfer of all time since she won Canadian Women's Open at age 15; at the time the youngest to win a professional tournament.

She'd a four year detour from 2016 Marathon Classic until now; she looked like a bright comet that burned through the sky and disappeared.

But she's back onto her original path; the potential is there but it won't be easy.

It’s nice to see Lydia playing some good golf again. Contending fairly often - likely; Winning again - probably once in a while; Greatest of all time - not a chance! The number of strong competitive golfers coming on tour every year makes the likelihood of anyone racking up several wins a year very small. And, hasn’t she from early on talked about only playing till about 30 years old?

These are basically my thoughts. I give her 5 more seasons at top form. Even if she improves/adds distance, do I think she's better than Minjee Lee? Minjee wins 1x per year on average.

I don't think it's likely but it is possible if she can hit it a bit farther off the tee. JYK was literally average distance off the tee last year with good everything else. If she (Lydia) has her swing and mind intact, Lydia is probably very comparable from the middle of the fairway and is probably better around greens. I will also concede that Minjee could be winning at a higher rate than she is (easier said than done).

It would be nice to see someone make a run up the historical charts (Yani, Inbee territory). Right now, no one can get past two majors, although there are plenty of people that have a real shot to build upon their current totals.

From Rolex Ranking perspective, Danielle Kang's two wins came at the wrong time.

Danielle got 28 points for Drive On and 31 points for Marathon; only slightly more than half of a single major win, 100 points.

Lydia still can and will win events but the days of pre 2016 Lydia are gone IMO. No offence to the players at the time but honestly it was a 3 horse race, Lydia, Inbee and to a lesser extent Stacy Lewis and I guess a nod can be given to Lexi and SYR. If any of these players were on they'd usually win, all types of players would win over the year but the gap between pretender and contender is vastly different from today. Kinda playing off what @BadgerLin says there are just too many good players right now. I could probably name 15 players that regardless of rank if they show up with their dial in A game, they can dominate an event and if they can find that level 3 times a year well it makes it tough for any player to roll off the 5-6 win season with regularity anymore. Scoring is better now too, in 2016 5 players had a sub-70 scoring average in 2019 it doubled to 10 players and none of the players from 2016 where there in 2019 (Ariya came close with a 70.00 scoring average in 2019). What it all mean in the end, well just that many great player who are on the scene now will have an almost impossible time making the LPGA Hall Of Fame :)

Lydia will be fine, the exact same thing happened to Brooke here in 2018 just not quite as dramatic, she was rolling to victory and bogeyed #15 and #16 and only par'd both the par 5's and lost by a shot. I think if you're a proven winner these bad beats roll like water off a duck's back.

I think I would agree with most that Lydia's odds of being a powerhouse again are gone, but it does look like she will be able to contend often if what we've seen the past couple of weeks holds. Either way, a contending Lydia is a great thing for the LPGA.

Ko was painfully slow and appeared indecisive on a few of her shots on the last couple holes. I'm surprised she wasn't penalized.

The commentators were not doing their job when they were not criticizing Lydia Ko for how long it took for her to hit her 3rd shot on 18. That was terrible.

Nah. If Lydia had won multiple times in the past few years, I could maybe see it. However, she was itching for the win after a long drought.
