2021 TM Woods

Recommended Posts

The new iron release has me considering a nearly full TM bag, can't remember the last time I bagged one of their clubs (Rescue mid TP from mid 2000s I think). But I'm definitely considering the SIM if Titleist's new line doesn't do it for me. They could easily extend the cycle imo, possibly just expand on it, the fairway options seem a bit lacking.

Best thread I've read so far today.  I agree with all of it.  I'm a Titleist/Cally loyalist......SIM put TM in my bag.  SIM line is LEGIT.  It could easily last another year.  Expand the line to fill some needed gaps (16.5 Tour, adjustable hybrid, etc) but the base lineup is stout.  Add in that the new irons are smokin hot; you have a winning lineup for 21.

The odds of TaylorMade not releasing woods in 2021 are the same as Apple not releasing a phone this fall. The driver is TaylorMade's flagship line; it's what moves the needle for them. It might be a continuation of the SIM line, but there will be something new in 2021.

maybe something "new" to add to the SIM line but nothing replacing it

TaylorMade has not left a prior year model in their woods lineup in their recent history. They might have a prior year model on sale while they have inventory, but they don't keep it in the lineup. So while it's possible TM could adopt your strategy, there's no reason to suspect it based on their past behavior. Yes, SIM is great, but so was M2 and that got replaced the following year.

It's far more likely they'll continue down the road they started with M1: replace the current model with something that has an incremental improvement to what came before. Or, SIM could have been the final release of the M style drivers and they could go in an entirely new direction. The former is what will likely happen, but both of these scenarios are far more realistic than SIM not being replaced by a new model.

I just heard due to Covid and limited sales, a lot of companies may be keeping the current lines...who knows for sure though, time will tell!

No limited sales from TM. Things have been banging for them. Cant even begin to speculate on what is to come. The new 7 series iron line is UNREAL and add that with SIM and even an upgraded SIM, LOOK THE F OUT, could be something special. Take note boys TM is taking over.

limited sales? LOL Golf equipment is up big time in every category for the year. Some as much as double the year before.  The issue is they cant keep it in stock and make enough for the demand.  Golf, Fishing camping, boats, RV's, anything outdoors and gun sales are through the roof this year.

I would LOVE to see TaylorMade reintroduce a TP version of their drivers.  Doesn't have to be anything really different, for example - SIM and SIM Max: Why not SIM TP and SIM MAX? I just long for the days of TP being this cool, desired, unobtainium type of club.

Maybe they'll do a stealth(ala Og One) and all-white(throwback) versions of SIM. An all black, murdered out driver is never a bad thing.

I keep making my this point on WRX, but it's worth repeating. Everyone seems to want the badge or the TP line back. Believe me, I loved the TP line (and the badge!) as much as anyone else, but TP concept is a relic of a bygone era. TP clubs were cool and desirable because they had specs that were the same as what was played on tour at the time, rather than the closed faced, .350 hosel crap that was on retail shelves. TP clubs really were different at the start and it wasn't just shaft options like you had with SLDR and R15 TP (e.g., r510 TP).

We have it so good now compared to 15 years ago. The major lines are all TP clubs now. Adding back the badge or branding one of the products "TP" would create a differentiation that doesn't make sense with what's offered in the product lines.
