I asked Srixon/Cleveland if I could order the MMT’s in a set and this is the response I got from them.

Unfortunately this shafts only come in parallel tip .370. We use taper tip .355 shafts in all of our irons.

These shafts will not fit into our clubs.

That is true - Why?  Best guess parallel tips are for custom fitting - or fitters that build clubs.  Before I bought my Titleist 620 Series sets I checked with Titleist custom and was told pretty much the same thing.  Not surprisingly though, as I understand it, higher end irons from OEM's use TT.  Unless the manufacturer is like PXG.

That's odd.  MMT come in both taper and parallel.

yeah it is, i put a set of .355 in my cobra irons, sounds like they are being a bit lazy

Maybe they've chosen to not use the tapered MMT in their shaft lineup, only going with the lighter 370 shafts.  <shrug>

I am well aware, but was responding to someone that couldn't get Taper Tip in MMT.  Parallel was most likely the first tip introduced back when, and TT later.

From my due diligence, most common graphite shafts on the market are light weight 60-80g shafts with soft tips to help those needing graphite for maybe medical or physical challenges, and to maintain reasonable distances.  The problem with those shafts is with the soft tip section, dispersion can be all over the place, unless the person has a slow SS.   An acquaintance has 75g "S" shafts in his irons.  He hits the ball all over the place with no distance control.  Last time we played, he pulled his 7i for 160yd shot into the green, and hit it 190+yds; we guessed at the distance cause it flew the green and far out into the abyss, hooking left. lol.

Aerotech and their Steelfiber line seemed to go after the better golfer market by making huge inroads with tour players.  The inclusion of metal in the shaft helped to stabilize them.  However, it's an expensive design and manufacturing process so gets transferred to consumer pricing around $55 ea shaft + install.  Mitsubishi MMT and Tensei AV line are even more costly + install.  Good news, last I knew Titleist was offering Tensei line to customers in custom.

Those two lines offer stability and stiffer tip sections for those of us with higher swing speeds.  I have two sets of Steelfiber i95cw "S" and i110cw "S."  Of those two 110cw "S" was the best fit for me, but I missed feeling ball impact.  After testing though, I recently settled on Tensei White AV "S" in 2-SW and rather happy.  Mitsubishi figured out how to add aluminum weave to mid-section which enhanced stability and bought club head feedback and responsiveness at impact to the game.   Something most other graphite shaft makers lack.  The other Tensei influence is ascending weight of 2g from 90g 2i to 108g PW & SW, which I like.  My 3i is 92g and 195-200yds. Now all my shafts feel similar at D2 sw.  Same SW as my PX 6.0 120g, and 5.5 115g shafts, only lighter so my SS has increased, as well as distance with each club and excellent distance control.  Mitsubishi says these shafts are for stronger players, I am here to confirm that, only S and X.

The shafts in my 620 series cost about $75 ea + install, similar to MMT.

I have Accra iCWT 95 and they were around $50 a shaft

Those 2.0 shafts are similar to Steelfiber i95cw, and priced similarly too.

Hello… anyone have experience with installing MMT IRON PARRALEL shafts.

reason I ask is I tipped 1.5 inches per trim instructions ..for a six iron I want to try it in.…. And I was surprised that when I cut it at 1.5 inches the tip is solid… no hole.

Any thing specific I must do since without o hole in shaft tip there is pressure created and it’s hard to keep the head from popping out/ up when it’s installed.

Any suggestions?

I play the MMT 80 shafts in my PXG irons and I love them.

I thought it might be a huge change for me coning from DGS 120 gram shafts, but the transition was very smooth.

The MMT shafts have proven to be very stable and they provide excellent feedback, while providing great distance.   No more hand fatigue for me.

I will not order any new set of irons without these shafts.

I’d ask about this is the club building and fitting group. I don’t know what you’d do, but it seems right that there should be a way for air to escape while the epoxy cures.

I am really interested in these in 105 with P790.  I currently play recoils 95 F4 in 921Forged. That said I can’t find them anywhere to try.  I asked my a friend who knows the TM rep to see if i could get my hands on one to try out. I was able to try the 95 MMT in a new paradigm head this weekend, and it felt pretty great. However, I’m not really interested in the paradigm head.  I’d like to see my numbers with the P790 in the 105MMT.  If the numbers are decent, I’m ready to buy.
