P790 users... what is your wedge setup and gapping?

790PW bent 1 strong to 44

Vokey 48, 53, 58

The 790s are really solid clubs but I'm not a huge fan of the PW. My gaps are very good in general, but the 790 PW, even bent 1 strong, still doesn't gap properly to the 9 iron (@ 40) for me. The wedge ball flight is high and seemingly weak compared to every other short iron or wedge in my bag. I'm actually thinking about getting a T100s PW.

Unique set up here with these P790 PW at 45*loft after a gaping session on GC4. Gaps are perfect now for full swings and has helped my scoring a bunch this season.

I have PW, AW, 54 & 58 wedges. Sand and lob wedges are currently Callaway MD4 but looking very hard at the new Vokey SM8’s. Used to play Vokey wedges but went to Callaway to try out the forged wedges. I like em, but thinking of going back to Vokey’s.

I play this same set up. Only difference is I have milled grind 2 in the 54 & 58. I also rotate in an rtx4 58 in 3 degrees of bounce as the course I play gets really hard July and most of August and the milled grind doesn’t go lower than 8 degrees of bounce.

I go PW, AW, Glide 3.0 54 SS, Glide 3.0 58 SS

Though want to change this up a bit because I’d ideally like something that I can use around the green for the GW. Does anyone use the AW around the green? I’ve found it hard. So perhaps looking at PW, then 47, 52, 58… need that 47 to hit the same AW yardage for full swing.

Was looking into this today. If I ditch my AW p790 do I go with a 48 or 50 degree wedge? I also carry a 54 and 58. Thanks

I play the P790 PW but not the AW. I also play Vokeys in 50, 54, and 58.  I believe the P790 PW is 45. What is weird to me is that the yardage gap between my PW and 50 is only about 5 yards. It must be because of the shaft. My PW has a recoil graphite shaft and my Vokey has the standard steel shaft (KBS I think, too lazy to go look).

What’s the longest iron you carry? And how have you found the long irons ease to hit?

Longest iron is a 4 iron. Then go to a 21* Mavrik Hybrid. I find the 4 iron fairly easy to hit, nice smooth swing. When I try and get too much out of it, I can get in trouble.
