Ping G710 delayed dely

denkea

Recommended Posts

I ordered a set of Ping G710 irons the last week of June. Delivery according to the Ping rep was 2nd week in August. Listened on speaker to a conversation between our Director of Golf and Ping order department Tuesday 8/3 trying to pinpoint dely. Ping rep hemmed and hawed and said something to the order of having trouble getting heads and maybe the shafts (UST SmacWrap) being on back order. New Delivery date? 8 more weeks. UGH?!?! Might as well wait until the new stuff comes out.

I was very lucky when I had my fitting the end of March. The shop had 6-pw in stock with the shaft I was fitted to so I was able to walk out with those . I had to order the 5 iron and u wedge the 5 and wedge took 6 weeks to get but it was worth the wait.

We just got off the phone with the PING rep. Everything is still behind a LOT due to COVID, not just on their end, but suppliers as well. In particular the G710s. They came out right when COVID hit and they're trying to keep up with the demand of the irons and the supply issues they're having. Just like the G700 before it, it's on it's way to being the most popular iron they have. But the said they're trying to get heads and get them built as fast as possible.

OMG! I know I ordered a set of G 710's 4-PW with Aerotech steel fiber shafts 7/6/ and was told I should receive them 1st week of Aug on the 4th. Here it is 8/6 and they haven't even shipped them. I was told maybe sometime next week, UGH! I wasn't expecting this long of a wait. It's killing me not knowing now as yes this COVID-19 not only has effected them as well as the suppliers. We should all get some big discount for this as I will get a military discount as I'm sure of but why did I sell my other set of irons so quickly. Good luck to everyone who has been waiting.

You want a big discount because there was (and still is) a worldwide pandemic, and Ping is dealing with supply chain issues as a result? Also, it's been stated multiple times in other threads that Ping has opted to go slow and protect the health of their employees. You think you're entitled to a "big discount" due to that?

Listen it's nothing against the company as don't we all want the best possible deal that we can get. It's a mess n matter what you go out and big when it comes to a big purchase. I know what PING is dealing with. I was using a reference as to when gas prices really dropped down but wasn't long afterward they started jacking the prices back up. Sorry if you paid as much as you did for your set as I know exactly how PXG owners felt after paying so much then PXG coming out with the Hero's program.

I'm very happy that I'm able to purchase such a fine set which may take longer than expected and very fortunate to be still be alive and use the Military discount that is offered. No one is entitled to anything but thanks for your opinion as I know that this whole World is a mess because of the pandemic

No kidding I even stated in a message to you I'm really not expecting anything and I know that no one is entitled to anything as it's time to drop this already and stay on the the subject. Surprised to hear from someone that PING's CS has gone to sh-- as I've never had a problem from them.

Mine arrived 8/11 as they were order on 7/6. Not bad at all and they were custom ordered with Aerotech Steel Fiber shafts too. I was expecting them to take longer.

Wife ordered a set of 710s with the Alta Distanza on 6/20 and still waiting. At first it was 3 weeks, then 6. It took over a week for our local shop to hear back from their Ping rep, and as of this past Saturday were told another 2 weeks. The fitter said at this point he'll believe it (2 weeks) when he sees it.

Signature!

Yeah but 25 days from when?  Certainly not from my order date.  That would've been Aug 1st but del'y now is Sept/Oct.

While not intentional, he is probably not quoting you an accurate time. The "earliest" ship date is probably not indicative of what the actual ship date would be.

I live in TN, USA...was adamant it was 25 days from when order was received until hitting the dock.  Add in 4-7 for delivery, seems correct to me.  International, you will definitely have to wait longer.  I am waiting 2+ weeks for my stuff (non golf) off the docks versus normal timing.  It's Covid, hurry up and wait, then wait some more.  Excuse or not, it's going to happen.

Honestly raw materials are what is hampering everyone.  We hired 425 new people, but are still behind on delivery due to supplier shortages.  It sucks, but it is what it is.

I have a 1 year old Maytag washer that decided to say "F U" last week.  Hour and a half on the phone for service, 1 week till service call, came out, no parts on hand.  2 weeks for parts (min), another week for them to get out here (backed up), maybe I have a functional washer again...it is what it is, suck it all, COVID-19

Well now that my G710's are here I would say the wait was worth it......all except I purchased 4-PW red dot and my 9 iron is a black dot. I called PING and they want me to send it back so they can correct the problem as they don't even want my local Pro shop do any adjusting. I thought maybe they didn't fill in the color code as my Pro shop guy said he would adjust them  if needed and would red auto touch up paint do the trick.  I'm surprise this slipped past quality control but if I send my 9I back it will be during the winter months as who knows how long it would take to get it sent back. There is a slight difference in play not much but to pay the price I did and what if I ever want to sell them. Any suggestions on what you would do?

Have all your clubs checked for lie angle.  It could be that the 9 iron falls in line with red dot and just not colored correctly.

I took my clubs to my local fitter and had all the lie angles checked out, Well I wasn't surprised as the lie angle was correct...spot on. PING quality control just forgot to paint the red dot. It happens so all is well.
