Anyone Still Gaming Adams Hybrid

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I am in the process of looking at upgrading my bag and when it comes to the old Adams Idea Pro Gold 2h with the Ozik shaft its just hard to beat. Anyone else in this boat? If you just gave it up what did you get that compares? This is my favorite club and the shaft has been a solid performer.

Have had an Adams a7 19* PNT with Altus shaft in the bag for about 7 or 8 straight years now. It's not going anywhere.

Its probably the best shaft I have in my bag and the club does everything you ask it to do.

still gaming my adams pro 18 hybrid and i am actually building up a 20 degree adams pro with newer shaft to try and get better gapping. I tried most of the new ones and saw no improvement.

Had the Adams A12 Pro 16, 20, 23 in my bag since about 2012.

Recently determined that as I'm getting a bit older the 20 and 23 were carrying within 5 yards of one another so I dumped the 23 and added another wedge to close the gaps.

The I replaced the 20 with a Ping G400 Definitely more forgiving and easier to get some (now) much needed height.

And just for a scramble round or 2 recently replaced the 16* Adams with a strong 3 wood - Sonartec NP99.

I suspect though, once I begin playing my own ball regularly again I'll go back to the 16* Adams. But for the time being, none of 'em left in the bag. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks for the replies. Today I had 215 left on a par 5 elevated green that had water short and left (forced carry) and a bailout area to the right of the green. I picked my spot just right of the green and hit it there on a line pin high to make for an easy up and down. I guess if its not broke don't fix it.

Adams hybrids are still as relevant today as when issued. They were definitely ahead of their time in terms of design. That's why TM bought them out. I still have a Super LS and XTD-Ti. I've moved on from them, but could easily still have them in the bag. The same model fairways are just as awesome. The Super LS 3 wood is still the longest fairway wood I've ever had. Still have a Super 9031 as well. That was a great club, but I've gone with a more modern utility iron now.

Yep. 18 degree with a shaft I love.

it will probably last the longest in my bag... I don’t need to hit it further, and like it’s launch and feel.

granted, I also have adams irons and an adams 3 wood.

Played old V4 for a season, but after swing change the offset provided too many hooks. I did get a decent trade-in for the 3H and 4H.

I am coming back to playing regularly after a 10 year hiatus. I have spent a fortune on new equipment and keep going back to the older stuff that I’m more comfortable with. I’ve gone back to gaming a 23* and a 25* Adams a12 Pro. I also have a 20* but recently benched it for a Adams Blue 7w with a blue ProForce shaft.

Yes Sir, I play the 2, 3 and 4 Adams Pro A12. I also have the PXG Gen 3 in the same set up ( 2, 3 and 4 ) but different shaft. For whatever reason I will put the PXG's in the bag but as good as they are they will only last a couple of weeks before replacing with the Adams again.

I have 2 of them. One is the original XTD Super Hybrid 19* with a 85s Aldila Rogue Black in it at the moment. I've had various shafts in it over the years, and it's a tough club to beat out. I've tried a bunch over the years and it's still ends up back in the bag. My other is the Super 9031 23* that currently has a 115g Fujikura iron shaft. Before the Fujikura, I had a standard S300 shaft in it since I got it and only recently switched because I wanted some lighter shafts in my woods and hybrids. Still getting used to the lighter weight, but the head gives me a lot of confidence. I can't find a club to replace either hybrid. I'm probably going to get some heads for backups in case they ever crack. I've hit a lot of balls with them over the years.

I have 14.5* and 18* super fairways, and the 19 and 21 super hybrids. (Like an idiot, I gave a 15* super hybrid XTD Ti to a neighbor kid. It was stupid long and straight and should have replaced the 14.5* fairway.)

My older daughter came back to live with us, and put her clubs in the garage. I forgot I had given her a 15 and 18 degree Speedline F11 titanium fairway woods that I bought off the bay that were cut down about an inch each.

I had been using a driving iron for the past 5-6 years and just went back to my old trusty Adams tour issue peanut 18* hybrid. For my new course, it is the perfect club for the distance gap I was finding myself in. Has the Ozik candy red hybrid shaft. Forgot how great that shaft was.
