Colt Knost as Commentator

Is it just me or is Colt Knost a fantastic on-course voice? He is self deprecating but very knowledgeable. He knows a bunch of the players well and doesn't hold back with his criticism.

I thoroughly enjoyed him yesterday. We need more of him.

Haven't heard him yet, but I feel the same way about Colin Montgomerie in the booth. Just fantastically self-deprecating and with a great, dry English sense of humor.

Yes, heard him a bit and wasn't bad at all. Thought he was a regular on course guy with a southern drawl until they re-introduced him. But definitely better than some of the semi-retired introvert PGA players they keep hiring.

In one of the other threads I mentioned that I was impressed with Colt Knost when he did the Web.com a few years ago when he was hurt.

He was on tour long enough to know most of the current guys and so far he's shown that's he's really comfortable doing the commentary. I hope they keep him on long term and give him more air time.

He's on SiriusXM daily with a show called 'Gravy and the Sleaze' at 1:00 PM Eastern. He has experience at this.

Colt has definitely gotten more comfortable on air over time, definitely maturing into role like a fine wine while some other folks are turning like milk?

Colt is a good team player. He doesnt hog the attention. Or try to step on anyone else. Or try too hard to be witty a la McCord, Jacobson etc. But he also keeps a fun vibe (a lot these guys are too serious. it helps CBS a lot that Faldo can be a bit light/goofy at times). He fits in well. Part of it is also the ESPN crew which was a nice mix. The NBC crew is a bit stuffier (which is why Feherty tho a good add hasn't fit in as well as he did with CBS) so not sure he'd do as well there (tho there is the argument they could use someone like him), he'd be great at CBS tho.

It also helps that Colt just has a good voice that comes across very natural. Maybe that experience from doing Radio/Podcasts helps.

I love Colt's work. He seems like the type of guy who would sit down next to us average Joe's at a bar and in 5 minutes it would feel like you've known him all your life.

His show on SiriusXM is a must-listen!  Funny and informative with a behind-the-curtain look at life on tour and golf in general.  Both he and his co-host Drew Stoltz have a relaxed vibe and I find it a fantastic show.

No one mentioned he also does a podcast/sit down with Drew Stoltz on the Golf.com's Youtube channel call Sub Par. Likable host for sure, with very good communication and timing skills. He is one of the best out there at the moment.

Sub Par is awesome, Drew Stoltz and CK are great together. Little crude at times, but I am getting old.  Sub Par should join Barstool and blow up.

I like him.  And I am someone who probably looks to dislike announcers more than one should.  Maybe listening to him on Siriusxm has something to do with it.

He’s ok. But just hearing some new voices like him and Wood’s is a welcome change.

He’s solid, a great mix of humor and not needing the spotlight. Really have enjoyed the sub par podcast - it’s my favorite golf podcast to date. Get Sleeze out there too!

Really enjoying his take on the golf and even his little 'fights' with Nick Faldo as well. He has a current view on the players and how they play versus Faldo's older view and it's a pretty good mix.  Plus he puts a little humor into the mix as well. So far so good.

The sleeze and knost commentating would be absolutely amazing. Book them for The Masters.

Just the fact they use those nicknames for their show is enough to disqualify them from ANGC clearance to work.  

 

I also believe Knost has never set foot on the grounds.  Doesn't want to until he qualifies?
