Adjustable player's hybrid?

Recommended Posts

Recommendations for a loft-adjustable player's hybrid? I like the shape of callaway apex / mavrik pro, but they're not adjustable. TM Gapr HI fits the bill, but it's too upright for me (I'm 30" wtf and play my irons 2* flat). The other candidate may be titleist ts3, not sure if there's anything else?

Have you looked at the PXG 0317X? It’s what I’m using now. Lots of adjustability in loft, lie and weight. I use a 19deg with the FujiPro 2.0 8S shaft.

Does the M3 count as a player's hybrid? It's adjustable and I picked it because of its smaller profile. A lot of reviews have said that you need to be a better striker to be consistent with it, i.e. it's not that forgiving, so maybe that fits the player's definition, haha.

^This.

I play my irons 2* flat as well, and I pay close attention to lie specs on hybrids and fairways. The G410 can be adjusted up to 3* flat, which is more than any other on the market. Whereas, the Titleist hybrids, for example, can only be adjusted to 0.75* flat.

As an aside, I usually also shorten my hybrids and fairways 0.5-1.5". This effectively flattens the lie angle as well 1* for every 1" reduction. Just another option to consider, albeit more involved because you have to mess with new headweights or hotmelt and you're affecting shaft flex. The G410 is a much easier solution.

Ping G410 can go flat. How much loft are you looking to adjust, since there is only 3degs different between their hybrids?

Another vote for PXG. If you put it on the "PXG" setting it goes 3* flat. It also starts flatter than most others in the neutral setting. The PXG standard lie is 58.5* for the 19*, so you can adjust it down to 55.5*, which is pretty flat for a hybrid.

The Ping G410 19* starts at 57.5* and you can also adjust to 54.5*, so either one should work. You can also order Mavrik Pro and Apex hybrids direct from Callaway 2* flat so you can get the 18* of either model at 55* or the 20* at 55.5*.

Hope this helps.

Yes. If you don’t try the g410 first you aren’t hitting the best. I don’t know how it could get any easier than the 410

i use the mizuno clk.  I can adjust +/- 2 degrees of loft or flip it and adjust +/- 1 degree of lie.

818H2 would be my recommendation if you are looking for an Apex shape.  Very adjustable, great feel  (to be fair, I haven't hit the TS3 hybrid).  I gamed them for a year, but switched to 818H1 for a bit more forgiveness.   I also agree with the TM M3 suggestion.  I gamed the TM M1 ('17 version); which was alarmingly similar.  All of these hybrids can be made very "anti-left".

Now that said....if my eyes were to wander I'd give the PXG a try......
