If I remember correctly, lot's of folks that preorderd the MP-20's were able to call Mizuno customer service and find out where their order was in the queue. Not sure who or where they called, but they were able to get ballpark dates.

Strolled over to the store, to check these out and they do look pretty good.  I may be trippin, but the Forged look a little bigger than my 900F, not in a bad way but just look like some added length and width?  The Tours look icy, and nice and arent as immediately scary looking as I thought the 900T were.  All in all the line is sharp looking

It will be interesting to see how the swing weighting works out for those requesting D3+, especially on shafts cut under standard. The feedback I'm getting is that they're not going to meet those specs (at least not now). I'll be holding off on my order until late winter.

Do you think there would be a noticeable difference in feel and/or performance (where forgiveness is not needed)?

I dont think so, but i have not yet hit that specific set / the transition point. The shorter irons will be more consistent in distances.

I'm also hoping it doesn't create a larger than normal distance gap between the 7 and 8.

it depends on how good your ballstriking is. I think there will be some more forgiveness (aka similar distances even on slightly off-center hits) in the longer irons. So if you have a lot of slight-miss shots, including in the shorter irons, the lack of added forgiveness might punish you more in the shorter ones, having some kind of impact on gapping. This is all theory though, and i think once sb owns them, distances will get dialed in anyways.

I was looking to move from the p790s - an exceptional iron that just went too far, as silly as that sounds.  P790 are crazy, crazy long.

I took a hard look at the p770, but ultimately waited for the JPX 921F, and I’m glad I did.

Both are exceptional, with the narrowest of edges going to Mizuno and the one piece forging.   There’s just nothing like a Mizuno, as they say.

Both sets can be had off the rack, at least here in the Bay Area.  Part of the fun for me is taking them apart and home and rebuilding them to my specs.

I’m a 4 if that matters.  YRMV

After playing MP32s for 15 years except for one brief and ill-advised experiment with a "more forgiving club" I decided I was ready for some new irons.  After reading everything I could find and finally getting to hit the 921s I went through a fitting yesterday and placed an order.  The funny thing is I was all set to go with all 921 F figuring I needed a little more forgiveness, but the 921 T 7 iron was so buttery soft and easy to hit low, high, fade or my preferred baby draw that I decided that it worth giving up the extra 10 yards with the F for the ability to control the ball with the T.  I chose to combine the 921F 5 and 6 iron with the 921T 7-PW.  Based on the recommendation of the Mizuno rep the 5 and 6 will be 1* and 2* weak, the 7,8,9 will be 1* strong compared to the normal lofts and the PW will be standard.  The lofts of the resultant set (25*, 29*, 33*, 37*, 41* and 46*) are just slightly stronger (2* for 5-9 and 1* for PW) than my current 32s and the gaps should manageable for my game and the courses I typically play.   Project LZ 6.0 was one of the choices based on Mizuno Optimizer and was my pick given how smooth the shaft felt.  They should arrive in 3 weeks according to the rep.  I'll try to post pictures and report after I gain some experience with them.

Just saw and hit these. Let me vomit out some stream of thought notes. The luster on the Tours looks really good in the bag. The Forged look fantastic for something that is supposed to be hot/forgiving. The soles actually aren't that wide and what width they do have is hidden super well with that thin ribbon of chrome on the trailing edge. For anyone that thought the HMP's were similar looking to the Forged, I can see that, and it is more of a compliment to the the HMP's than a ding on the Forged. Hitting the Tour and Forged, my thoughts are a could totally play the Tours, but should play the Forged. Both, felt fine, but I can't get a good gauge on feel hitting indoors. Of course, Forged was about 10 yards further than the Tour. Looking at the short irons, the Tours start getting a little small for my taste. The Forged short irons do say 1025E. The 8 and 9 irons on the forged were still a little elongated to my eye but nothing off-putting, but the surprise of the bunch where the PW and GW on the Forged. The shaping on those looked perfect to my eye and I would highly likely get the set GW as it is pretty much just a full swing club for me anyway. Solid lineup.

Went to the store today since they have both sets on the rack and wow the hot metal pro’s look so good. I actually cancelled my order to do more testing and I may do a combo set HMP 4-7 and Forged 8-PW. The hot metal pro long irons look incredible no visible offset to me. Identical to the 921 Forged

yes - I already stated that ordering 1/4” over equals 1/2” over compared to TM, Callaway and Titleist.

They are +1/2 compared to the 921 specs on the mizuno website.

my 7 iron measures 37.5 to end of grip.

Mizuno specs do not include the grip. So 37.5 to the end of the grip at + 1/4 would be correct.

did you put them on a swingweight scale? That should tell you pretty quickly what heads they used.

They use a device called the UN gauge that starts the measurement from the center of the sole to the bottom of the grip cap.

That is why stated specs with Mizuno are 1/4” longer as they measure from the bottom of the leading edge
