Fantastic. I’m on the fence between HMP and Hot Metals.  I’ve got the 919 HMP and the new ones have been marketed as more compact, that might push me to the Hot Metals

Why are you looking to switch out of the 919 HMP?

I want to try the DG120 X100 and instead of spending $350 to shaft my current sticks, I’ll spend $800 and get a new set 😁.  Just GolfWRXer at its finest p

Fair enough!  What shafts do you have in there now?  And how do you like the HMP in general?

I’ve got straight up DG X100.  Love the look from 4-8.  Not a big fan of 9 & PW.  The really perform.  My bad miss is on the heel so once every 10 rounds I’ll hit a hosel rocket 😁.  My miss is thin and straight with these as opposed to a big draw so they have eliminated my weak spot

I assume you find the 9 and PW heads to be too small (considering you're thinking about moving into the regular HMs)?

Size is ok, the just look strange to me. Almost as if they look better with the face closed.  I’m one of the few in here that think forgiveness is a good thing.  I don’t care to work the ball.  I’m comfortable playing a straight shot or a baby draw.  If the HMs had the offset of the forged or HMP this wouldn’t be a discussion 😁

Can someone confirm that if I want my jpx 921 5 iron to be 37.75" the way Titleist, Callaway or older Mizunos (ex 919) measures.. I would need to ask for .5" short from standard? I've asked the live chat from mizuno.com and i didnt get that impressions from them. Or does the measurement only get thrown off by certain grips?

thanks!

If you order them at 1/2” under and they will be 1/4” Under Titleist Standard length

Yep, ordered 5-9 1/4 short, same length as Mavrik pro

Have you checked the swing weights? Just curious as some people have said mizuno was not able to get to certain swing weights at -1/2”.

I bought a set of JPX921F off the rack locally, took them apart and rebuilt them to my specs with my preferred shafts.

This weekend I got out (to Bayonet in Monterrey for my NorCal friends) and had a go and I’m quite pleased.

I had p790s for about a year or so - a fine iron.  But, nothing feels quite like a one piece forging, especially after not playing one for a few years.

I was worried about distance - the p790s are cannons - and I am probably giving up 1/2 club in the long irons, but not a big enough sample size yet. Maybe not even.  The JPX hold their own.

i’m glad I went this route over p770.

I’m 42 and play to a 4, with a 107-ish driver ss, if that matters.

How far did you hit your 7 iron with the P790’s? How far were you hitting the 7 iron with the 921’s?

No time for fitting.  I'm pretty set on buying the HMP's.  Coming from MP32's with S300 shafts, does anyone know which shaft plays and feels similar?  The LZ 6.0 or Modus 120?

If you want to go lighter than standard DG, try DG 120 S300.

I ALWAYS order my irons by what I want my PW to measure and then go up from there.  If I want the PW to be Titleist standard length, then I tell them 35.75” cut, and that is the length at the end of the shaft.  Some grips have a bigger cap on the end, which makes it a hair longer, but it’s only usually 1/8”.

Can you give more feedback on comparisons between the p790 and 921F?  Feel, spin rates, launch, consistency, etc.  thanks.

Finally got a look at the full sets and the HMP looks a lot better than I expected. I would consider playing the 4 iron as my 3 iron.

If you looked at the 921 Hot Metal what made you select the HMP?
