Those who have hit the 921 Forged, are they low launching/low spin?  i had the 900 Forged and found they launched too low with too little spin.  I realize some of it is shaft dependent, I'd be curious about the stock Modus 105 R or 120.

I think technically the design goal behind the 921F is decent spin/high launch (steep decent angle) vs competitors in the space that are lower spin and lower launch to similar distances. The nice thing is over our beloved 900F’s, we are getting more distance with a slightly stronger loft and a lot of technology and in 4-7 irons material. Take your 900F and go hit it against the 921F with the Mizuno shaft optimizer. You will gain all that you want IMO.

Shaft will play a part and is always a part of the fit but so is ball. You have 500-1000rpms in both and with many decent swings, even more range to work with.

I have played 900 forged for 4 years.  They were high launch and spin for me but I have a very high swing speed and steep angle of attack.  The 921 forged 7 iron launched even higher than the 900 forged and the feel was much softer.

Part of the reason i want to hit them again in a new sim was I didn't believe the shape and spin i was seeing in the numbers.  It was showing very low spin for me.  But again, I don't think the simulator was correct.

I know what you mean minarets.
i went to the Mizuno Experience in atl.

the tech was smart and friendly. BUT....their sim uses a ball with dots on it. And it didn’t spin! Great for making the customer think they’re gaining yards, but not realistic if you play a moderate or high spin ball - like a ProV1 X!

i didn’t feel a lot of difference between F and HMp, but I’m a 12 cap. Where the diff did show up was on mishit; HMP still more /much more forgiving

An easy non-scientific start would be to watch Michael Newton’s videos on both. With just about identical swing speeds with the 7 iron, he’s a good club longer with the 921F. Lots of good things to say about the feel as well. Yet another winner for Mizuno.

Thanks for the recommendation!  Checked it out, and goodness  with the 921F he was getting around 200-205 carry, 210-215 ish total and the HMB around a 175ish carry and around 180 total.

I just hit the HMP and Forged for the first time.

At address they both appear very similar, though you can tell that the HMP's back is a little thicker if you look closely.  Head length looked almost identical. There's a noticeable different when looking at the soles however, and theHMP's sole was a lot thicker than I expected.

Performance and feel were very similar for me.  I was playing a mixed bag of range balls and normal balls, and really only tried to focus on shots with normal balls.  While the feel was generally the same, I will say that the one shot that felt the best all day was hit with the forged.  I currently play the Mx-200 irons from 2009 and I was hitting 921 7 irons further than my current 6 iron.

I'm leaning towards going with the HMP.  I'm 39 and play off an 8 index.  While I don't love the thick sole, it's there for a reason and since I purchase new irons every 10 years or so, I figured the larger head will help me out in the long run as I'll hopefully be playing these until I'm close to 50.  Being that performance was more or less the same, may as well go for the extra help; while saving $400.

I need to hit both off grass to make the final call.

For those who have placed custom orders, when were you told that they would ship? I made an order on 9/3, but forgot to ask when Mizuno expected to ship custom orders for the 921 line.

My HM pro’s & Cleveland zip core wedges arrival 1 October, but I just ordered mine!

Pretty similar in terms of launch or did you notice a significant difference?

Interesting that the difference in feel was mostly a wash. That's good to hear, because I'd love a little help from my irons but lots of folks are saying that the 921F feel amazing. Obviously, I've got to hit them both, but it's fun to read all these reviews until I can.

Fair enough.
My buddy got his 7MC set well before any stores even had their demo heads, and my MMC MP20 arrived before any stores had their full sets.

it also happened the other way around during the Pandemic early days where a mate of mine waited almost 10 weeks.

Sometimes it’s about who you know....

I just put a used set of 919 Pro’s in my bag less a than a week ago, but I’m debating if it it makes sense to return them and get fitted for 921’s. It’s only about $150 more than the 919’s.

For $150 more, definitely. The 919s were good but not as good as the 900s. The new materials and construction would definitely be worth it in my book. Also you get the custom aspect and have exactly what you want and need with the shaft, grip, loft and lie. It would be money well spent at that rate. If you were talking $500-$600, then no.
