I'd pull the grip off your 4 iron and look at the printing on the shaft butt, then order a shaft the next size longer. Reason being I've seen too many sets where the stock shafts were not installed f

Yep, watch out for sets built incorrectly. Some builders assumed that Nippon used the same uncut lengths for the original N.S.PRO sets of the xxxxGH shafts. The uncut shafts are actually 2" shorter than most other manufacturers and the newer Modus3 line of shafts. This led to some sets of clubs being unintentionally soft-stepped 4X.

I always have an issue when I order from Mizuno USA with Nippon GH 950. When ordering Sand Wedges the uncut length should be 35 inches. When clubs arrive the shafts are stamped 37 inches. Chris Voshall claims they special order from Nippon these extra length shafts because they do a lot of custom orders of varying lengths. This doesn’t make sense because there is plenty of shaft to butt trim to playing length for most over length builds.  All I know is the shaft doesn’t play the same as the shafts from Golfworks. Anyone else notice this. The step pattern is actually different too, (first step different length from tip ).

Using the step pattern distances is the sure fire way to confirm what you've got.  I find the comment from Chris V. highly suspect too.
