The top line heft is invisible in the playing position, though.  I honestly don't care what they look like in the bag, if the high gc means lower flight with higher more consistent spin, and shorter putts, I'm in.  Gonna order a pair without trying them.

Ha, PM me before putting them on the BST if it goes that way.

Didn’t get to play but got to hit some short pitches and chips. I can’t say that I can feel a huge difference nor could I see one. I did seem to be more consistent with the ES. The grind seemed to fit

love the color scheme, but man, those are chunky monkeys.

The black looks good and I’m not ocd on wedge colour.  I am ocd on how the top line of the wedge transitions into the hosel and mizuno has the tightest/quickest retreat of all the wedges.  The black will hide this anyways.

Amen! I struggle with getting a lower flight with spin in my SW an LW so these will get a try regardless of what they look like.

Removed weight from the low heel and placed it in the high toe. This does two things. The head is perfectly balanced right in the middle of the head. So the sweet spot is centralized and it moves weight up high to lower launch in produces enhanced spin.. ES..

While a bit chunky, these are in no way meant to be a "high handicap" wedge. The story is all about CG location and spin and launch control.. This wedges is breaking convention in many many ways.

That’s what Edel wedges have had for what, 10 years? (along with high toe grooves).

I find the marketing and sales in wedges peculiar...just can’t understand why Edel wedges or the Vokey V grind (phased out) aren’t more popular. Leading edge sits close to the ground when they are opened up and they have a ton of bounce. Best of both worlds and beats the brakes off the popular 6 and 8 degree lob wedges IMO

Really pushed the cg out from the heel to the center.

Has anyone seen the full options that include Sole Grind that they could post?  The best I have seen is the chart in the WRX article, but it is not clear if all of the options shown are available in both thin and wide sole options... Trying to order on the 8/31 release.

We have seen all the JPX info, seems odd that there is not more clarity with these..Mizuno-E21-Wedge-specs.png.026bd8f2a8f763eca334d38f93566fa2.png

Looks as if you get heel and trailing edge grind, not much, if at all, at toe. They look to cut off some bounce with the trailing edge grind.

I like a toe grind - would probably have someone grind them for me on the toe of LW if needed

That's what it would seem - Only reason I am unclear is that there have been pictures of the 58.08 and the 58.12 both with the Wide sole..

I have never seen anything that awesome. Didn't even realize you could get that much on a wedge! Although, I have to ask if the weight of the club is now different? ?

It sits next to my MP Transformers collection. It's never seen a ball so I don't know!

I found a review on these, only downside is the guy didn't give any numbers vs his gamer or put it head to head vs another wedge, so there's not much to game from it.

  • 3 weeks later...

Ordered the 55/9 and 60/10w two weeks ago.   I am told by Mizuno they wont ship until mid-October.  Hopefully I get surprised and they come sooner.

Are these still under embargo?  Seems odd that the only reviews are the THP and Golftec reviews (neither very well done).

No embargo.  I just don’t think there is a lot of enthusiasm to do wedge reviews in general. In particular if they are not the big four.

Super stoked for these.  Love everything I have read.

More people should really go with the wide sole in the SW assuming they play normal to softer condition like most of us do.  It works so much better out of all lies.

You definitely can't see any of the bulk once the club is on the ground - they look like a relatively normal wedge. And, they look pretty nice. I'll most likely order the 56 WS and 60 in Standard, but will hit them first just since it gives me something to do as the season winds down. Anyone balking at them due to their extra mass is probably going to miss out.

I went standard sole for the 55 and wide for the 60.  My thought is that I will likely be hitting alot of full shots with the 55, and prefer to use lob wedge for greenside bunkers where the wide sole should shine.

This is going to be a soft launch mid-October when Mizuno starts getting the clubs in stock.  Stock options through their site and custom through your normal channels.  Kind of bummed we don't get these for another 3-4 weeks.
