Interesting contest you guys are having here... even if there's no official ROY event... Can I join in next year?  Either way, people on the LPGA main thread would be wise to check up on this one since, well, here's where it all starts!   Great work 18majors!

Welcome on board!

We don't know what game we'll play next year.  Maybe you, @Newinup or @Golf Dino can give some suggestions.

Rookies who're inside Top-80 2020 Official Money List:

#32     Yealimi Noh                              $245,161

#37     Andrea Lee                               $215,567

$43     Bianca Pagdanganan              $186,266

#55     Leona Maguire                         $153,314

#65     Yui Kawamoto                          $129,145

#71     Matilda Castren                        $112,105

In other years, not counting superstars from KLPGA, there've been at most 3-4 rookies who finished inside Top-80.

Because this is a pandemic year, many established players chose not to play, thus granted more opportunities to the rookies.

Of course, this's also a very talented rookie class.  Bianca will be a Top-5 player pretty soon; Yealimi Noh and Matilda Castren won't be far behind.

I was just about to say, t** for tat -- eg, sure there's covid to muck things around but at the same time, covid made some players choose not to play... it balances out... bottom line: props to players who take advantage of the opportunities presented them...

Yui Kawamoto is still scheduled to play USWO; Patty isn't qualified for USWO yet but she still may make it.

Patty is scheduled to play VOA in two weeks; @Golf Dinowill take over the lead if she finishes T20 or better.

Bianca is still the wild card, she could win the next 3 tournaments and earns 600 points.

The bottom line, nothing is decided with 3 weeks to go; we've quite a good game this year.

Kinda ironic, amongst the Qschoolers, the ones "excelling" on the money list are the ones on the lower priority ladder...

One rookie that's fallen on a particularly hard time is Jillian Hollis.

Jillian made two of three cuts before the pandemic break and was a top rookie at the time; but she's missed eight straight cuts since the restart.  Not only she missed cuts, she seems to be a permanent fixture around DFL neighborhood.

Jillian was a good golfer, she's a standout at University of Georgia and won twice druing her 2019 Symetra Tour campaign.  Her fall from grace is all of a sudden, similar to Yani Tseng or Dave Duval.

Her stats tell the story in that she's both #152 on driving distance and driving accuracy; those are numbers tough to recover from.

Golf is such a cruel game sometimes; no other way to describe it.

My $1 question is -- what does the LPGA do about this "achievement" for priority "re-ranking" in 2021? -- esp Lee and Pagdanganan who are quite low on the totem pole...  I wonder if there's others who are top 80 money list in 2020 who are low on the playing/tournament entry totem pole that aren't rookies...

The only other players whose priority is higher than #150 and inside Top-80 in money are Kelly Tan and Christina Kim.

Kelly is #150 in priority and #52 in money; Christina is #151 in priority and #70 in money.

What Bianca and Andrea have done is very rare and they should be proud of it.

Rookies who made it to CME Tour Championship

PAGDANGANAN AND NOH AMONG ROOKIES LOOKING TO MAKE A SPLASH IN NAPLES

"The CME Group Tour Championship is the reward of a hard-fought season, and through the ups and downs of 2020, this week in Naples, Fla. was the goal for many. It’s even sweeter for those playing in their first season finale, including four 2020 rookies – Andrea LeeLeona MaguireBianca Pagdanganan and Yealimi Noh. Yealimi Noh shot a final round 80 to drop out of sight; but USWO has dramatically raised her profile.

Hopefully no one has bet on Amy Olson since she isn't playing this week.

It's fun that ROY race isn't decided until the last round of the year.  Should we try something again for 2021 season?

My suggestion:

Pick three players who'll win the most combined money for 2021?

The player pool are:

Albane Valenzuela

Patty Tavatanakit

Matilda Castren

Yui Kawamoto

Bianca Pagdanganan

Leona Maguire

Andrea Lee

Yealimi Noh

We won't pick our players until early 2021 when we know how priority is assigned.

We also need to know whether Yui Kawamoto will come to play the entire season.

@18majors correct me if I'm wrong but we are gonna have much of a rookie class next season are we?

My recommendation is maybe expand things and have a format where before the first event or season starts ( if not counting opening Tournament of Champion) while the rolex rankings are looked in.

1) we get to pick 2 players that start in the top 10

2) we get to pick 3 players from 11-45

3) we get to pick 3 players from 46-90

4) we get to pick 1 rookie

We have those 9 players to earn points throughout the season and the above numbers can be adjust to whatever everybody wants, as it's more of a guideline.

This sounds good, let's see whether there're other recommendations!
