That was very impressive by Sophia, set the tone of the round early by bouncing back from the 1st hole bogey.  She was really clutch all day and took out the chasers by shooting a 68.  Great story and

It's really nice to see Lydia back to hitting her fade and playing well. She looks calm and confident out there.

Great to see the women play more of the courses on the men's rotation.  The future schedule for the Women's Open plus Pebble Beach in the U.S. in 2023 is fantastic in my view.   I am surpris

Where is JY Ko and SHP, thought they were back for this?

No, the majority of the Korean players are back home.

Betting odds:

Danielle Kang  7/1      Minjee Lee  10/1      Brooke Henderson  20/1      Inbee Park  20/1      Carlota Ciganda  22/1      Nelly Korda  28/1      Celine Boutier  28/1      Lydia Ko  28/1

With forecast of rains and gusty winds; Celine Boutier at 28/1 seems to be a good choice.

Course details:  Course Guide

Has to score early before Postage Stamp #8.

"The opening six holes at the Old Course take the players along the sea and are often played with the support of the prevailing wind. In typical links fashion, players turn northwards for a long and difficult finish back into the sea breeze, running parallel to the opening stretch."

Among the rookies, Yui Kawamoto, Andrea Lee and Leona Maguire are the stand outs.

Yui was T8 at Gainbridge and fourth at Drive On, Andrea T5 at Marathon and eleventh at Ladies Scottish, Leona T4 at Vic Open and Eighteenth at Ladies Scottish.

Yui will turn 22 next week, she's already won once at JLPGA.

Both Andrea Lee and Leona Maguire have illustrious amateur and NCAA careers.

Andrea has been playing really well of late... Yui has cooled off a tad... I think the conditions this weekend may favor Andrea more based on her experience... but only way to find out is to watch it starting Thursday... ?

My pick this week is In Gee. She won the Evian in tough conditions, and this is shaping up to be a similar affair. She's never been a birdie machine, and similar to Danielle, seems to rise to the top when par is a good score.

Of course the easy pick is Danielle. Until she hits a bump, or should I say ditch, in the road, she's plowing ahead.

'Would love to see Minjee win her first Major. She's playing steady golf, but her putter has been cool.

Here's my picks Brooke and Minjee.  Brooke cause why not? and Minjee cause she's been close since the restart just been missing that extra gear.  I would say the players with the best chances are those late Thurs and early Fri tee times Friday is suppose to be nasty, so just assuming early will have it better.

Will be very interesting week ahead for the ladies. I guess its still a great test of golf especially with the weather being wet and very windy this weekend. my hopes are for a home grown winner ie brit but with Stacy Lewis and Lexi playing it will be a strong field. Just wish we weren't in Covid times so that crowds could watch. Hopefully next year.

I do not want to derail this thread too much but if lpga.com is to be believed, they have both entered in the ANA Inspiration.

It's reported last week by Korean media that Jin Yonoug, Sung Hyun and So Yeon would play ANA Inspiration.  Sei Young Kim will start next week at Walmart.

It's interesting the pecking order of the majors based on the ANA entry list is US Women's Open 1st, KPMG 2nd, AIG 3rd and Evian 4th.

ANA Inspirations wasn't ranked because it's the prevailing tournament.

I did see that Sei Young Kim signed up for Arkansas and was going to comment on that last week.  Also saw So Yeon registered.  Was excited to see her win on the KLPGA earlier this year and donating her winnings again.  I also see that Inbee has a pretty full slate of LPGA events.

I have been trying to follow a lot of stuff going on in Korea but haven’t really find a reliable source for overall golf news.  Do you have one?

Also, I am pretty sure that anyone traveling back into Korea has to quarantine for at least 14 days so that makes me think that they plan on coming over to the U.S. for multiple tournaments.  That excites me.

But back to the Women’s Open, I would love to see Inbee in contention come the weekend.
