Ugliest Golf Ball Design... Ever?

I'm a big fan of the TP5/TP5X balls, and I generally like TaylorMade. But... what were they thinking? Aside from the sheer ridiculousness, the printing seems to fuzzy around the lines and not sharp at all.

Its a fun little gag to generate some sales. Also I think the dimples are making them look off in the photo. The actual lines look fine.

Good point. Looks like someone forgot to apply sunscreen to their ball and it got all dry from being out in the sun too long.

I honestly think they are trying this type of stuff to move out old product before they "new" ball drops. The effectiveness of that strategy is certainly debatable, but they'll sell more balls in the short term, even if it's a marginal amount. Before I get flamed for that last statement, we have to remember that WRX'ers are not generally the target audience for this type of gimmick.

 

But I agree. It's hideous.

It looks to me like the "fuzzy" edges are supposes to resemble a stache if someone actually drew them with a sharpie. Could be they had some folks actually do so then digitized the renderings for print. It's definitely weird, but so are soccer ball golfballs, etc. To each their own. And that silver Chromax Titanium above is eleventy billion times worse, imo.

I appreciate your cynicism and agree with it...

 

Though they probably have some market research that the mustache crowd feels underrepresented in the golf market.

 

On the upside of things, at least they are having fun it it? If they hire Jay Chandrasekhar to promote it, I'll buy at least one box.

I’m not Canadian, but I do love Canadian flag. And, you guys usually have better Olympic uniforms. I wholeheartedly believe that if we (USA) had better sweaters during the 2010 gold medal game, we would have won.

I'm American. Born and live in Western PA. I've been to Toronto a few times though. Love the city.

Agree with you on the Canadian flag. I bought a dozen of the balls. Sharp looking in person.

Haha. I'll be honest, I wanted the USA to win, but I also wasn't horribly upset that Canada won, either. It was one of the best games I've ever watched.

Oh it was awesome and stressful. I was at college in the US so everyone was giving me the gears that USA was gonna win, won a ton of bets with professors and almost gave myself a concussion when Canada scored and smacked my head off a metal bar on the underside of my bunk bed.
