Callaway Hex Tour Soft

I play the Chrome Soft. The other day a friend asked me to hit this ball (Hex Tour Soft). I was pleasantly surprised to find it performed at a similar level to the Chrome Soft at half the price according to my friend. Since then I have inquired about this ball and no one I have spoken to has heard of it, I have talked to our club pro, visited a local golf shop, and spoken to other players. Does Callaway still make this ball and retail it at $24 per dozen as my friend reported?

It’s a Costco ball. Just checked the website and it’s not on there anymore. You might be able to find it in your local store.

I’ve been using this ball lately. Costco used to sell it online, but they took it off their website a month ago it seems. I have recently still seen it at some of their warehouses

I have played them both and they are very similar. You can get the Diablo at Dicks/Golf Galaxy. I believe they might have them still on sale for 2/$40

I haven’t played the Hex Tour, but the write ups are almost identical to the Diablo Tour. I’m thinking Hex Tour is branded for Costco and Diablo’s tour for DSG/GG since I’ve only seen them there.

Yes.  My guess is Cally makes this ball for Dicks/GG and Costco.  They probably just change the label.  Smart marketing to create a sort of private label ball.

I play the Diablo Tour when they go on sale.  I really like the ball.  One of the better 3 pc. ionomer I've played.

How's the distance on this for human swing speeds?

Judging by the conforming golf ball list, the Hex Tour Soft and the Diablo Tour are different balls.  Hex Tour Soft is 3P-1c while Diablo Tour is 3P-2c.  Callaway has a bunch of balls with each of those profiles.

I was in my local Costco today and got four dozen. $60 or so. The website doesn't even show them at all. I've been through a couple dozen and I like them better than the current Kirkland variety.

Yeah they were just on the website a couple days ago but now gone again.  I'm guessing that means they are out of stock in warehouses to ship.  I was a fan on their Hex Control house ball a few years back but hadn't tried these.  I'd be curious if anyone has played both and how they compare.

I loaded up on these over the winter. Great ball for the price when on sale 4 doz. for 50 bucks, they're a steal. IMO, their pretty close to the old 'Costco Callaway Hex Tour'.

They were available on and off over last winter, probably when they were in stock. I'll be a buyer when they're available this winter.

So I called Callaway and here is the information they gave me.  The Callaway Hex Tour Soft golf balls is made exclusively for Costco in a manufacturing facility that only makes Callaway products for Costco (Edge clubs and Callaway Hex Tour Soft balls).  Costco dictates the make up of the items off Callaway's offerings.  The previous Hex Tour Soft ball was changed this year to the Callaway Hex Tour ball.  Callaway said the only difference is Costco wanted the compression changed from 50 in the Tour Soft to 55 in the Tour... he didn't know why.  Callaway stated the distance should be the same but you will get a little clickier sound off the tee.  I'm going to play the new ball Friday.  Will see then if it feels different.

Previous Costco balls were the <SUPERHOT 55> and the <<<Hex Tour Soft>>>.  I had both of these balls around, and cut them open for science.

 

Based on the images, they seem to be the same ball rebranded.  If the SUPERHOT was a 55 compression ball…I think the Hex Tour Soft is also.

 

I am very interested in getting the new ball, haven’t seen it nearby yet.
