PING ES Grind users - have you switched? If so...to what?

Recommended Posts

hey all.

I use 54 and 58 ES wedges. I will be keeping them for this season, but likely picking up some new wedges from PW- LW in the off-season.

If anyone has switched, what to? Why?

The ES is so versatile...im concerned I won't find anything like it.

Thanks!

I switched from my 58es for a little bit but it didn't take long to put it back in the bag. It's tough to beat.

Yeah, not switching anytime soon.  Have looked at other wedges but my current issues with short game are not the clubs fault. FWIW, today I stuffed a 90 yd bunker shot to 3 ft with my ES 56º which made for an easy birdie.  Clubs still work - apparently.?

Thats what I use. Es stealth. I've removed most of the black finish too. They look sweet.  Always looking around at other wedges also...

I had a 56 ES grind. Loved it for full shots, but anything around the green the bounce was too low, 8*. I found a lot of my half, quarter and chip shots were stabs unless I got it perfect. I have since switched to a vokey 56.12 D.  It is a much better all around club. Better out of the sand. Better around the green and just as good at full shots.  I have switched all my wedges to vokey and I am sad that it took me so long

I swing fairly steep and play softer fairways

one other caveat - I hate how the ping wedges present at address with an open face when I want to play a flop

I played ES grind in my 58* first generation Glide wedge.  I replaced it this year with a Glide 3.0 Eye wedge.  Seems like it has the same sole and is even easier to hit out of bunkers.

Correct me if I'm wrong but does the ES not stand for Eye sore? Instead of having that elongated toe, they rounded it off. Best of both worlds?
