I have to have "the talk" with my wife soon

Finally saved up a bit of money to get some new clubs this year. 2 weeks ago I bought a driving iron from Golfworks when they had a custom shop sale going on. I was thoroughly unimpressed with its performance (read...my swing was garbage).

So, what does one do other than go browse the BST section when it comes online and snag a "new-to-me" hybrid with the same loft.

Add to that the fact I have two 3irons from older sets and a F6 Baffler that hasn't seen the light of day in a while. Now I have to explain to my wife why a grown man needs 5 pieces of metal that all do basically the same thing. Oh well, can't wait to chunk my new hybrid and get back to browsing BST.

The wife and I have an agreement,  for every club that comes into the house , an equal amount has to go. Keeps the inventory in check , no dust collections ,  lols,

Yes I have two sets of sticks, but I also have two houses. Update clubs frequently, lol's

That's a pretty damn big loophole.  Do you have a garage?

There's a wife that unfortunately for you, understands the game.  ?

While she's intelligent and astute, she's a rookie compared to my wife.  My wife knows all that but doesn't let on that she knows.  She encourages me to buy more clubs and clothes and golf shoes.  She knows that I can't out-shop her and the more I buy frees her up to buy more shoes and purses and jackets and sweaters and little Santa Clauses and battery powered candles.  She's smart like that.

My wife quilts.  Unless you're married to a quilter, you will be astonished at how much a "decent" sewing machine costs.  Think one set of PXG plus one set of high end OTR irons.

That's no joke and you can easily go higher than that.

Luckily my wife is mostly involved in crafting so she has a room full of dies and press and laminate machines. She used to sew a lot when our kids were young so I know the difference In price between a Pfaff and a Bernina as she has two of each. A good friend of mine bought his wife a $30k quilting machine several years ago. That’s big league.

My wife is a scratch spender and I’m a 18 handicap. Not even close. I do know the UPS driver by name though.

My wife really doesn't care that much what I spend extra $ on, including golf - she's a peach.

BUT, the night we were in couples league several years ago and she figured out mid-round my AP2s looked a lot shinier (because it was the latest version that had just gone in my bag the week before and she didn't know) taught me to at least give her some warning, lol.  She just sat back and let everyone else give me a ton of ____, haha.

They don't all do the same thing, though, anymore than her 50 pairs of shoes do.

Try over 250 pair of shoes and almost 300 purses. I have no problem getting what I want but I don't even buy that much golf stuff compared to others on here.

I've got the opposite "problem", though I don't really consider it a problem. My wife has started thinking about looking into a new putter for herself. I'm actually kinda excited for her, and want to participate in the buying process if she'll let me, LOL.

I don't really subscribe to the idea of owning more than one set of clubs though. I find that it's not the putter, it's me. Case in point, I had 25 putts this past Friday. Then 36 yesterday, littered with three-putts. Same putter for both days, I am just streaky.

My wife is eyeing one of my  Scottys for her own. She has a pretty good eye. She even has enough understanding of her putting that she has borrowed my lead tape.....

The spreading out of all the golf stuff in our living room actually helps hide other problems in my house lol.

I probably have 2x the investment in fly fishing gear in one Simms travel case than I do spread out over 3 golf bags in my living room. So if the focus on golf keeps it *off* other places...I'm OK with that.

It's helpful I work from home so I get the boxes unboxed and put up before she gets home.

I try my hardest to not say anything when the UPS guy drops off a huge bag from LuLu or from Banana Republic.  The actual trick is to ask her what all she got and to do a fashion show for you, lol.
