2021 Titleist Bag Catalog

From Titleist Canada via email:

“Our 2021 bags will release mid to end march to our golf retailers for purchase. At that time our website will be updated and showing all available colours and choices.“

Are they just making Canadians wait? Because some (x5andre6) are already claiming to have received 2021-model year bags.

Sooooooo, I bought the hybrid 5 last week.  I hate it.  So much so that I have emailed titleist support.  Did they office that I issue for this fantastic looking bag, there divider inside is horrible.  Clubs get tangled too easily... Can't put them in, can't pull them out.  Horrible.... Just horrible.  My 5 year old sun mountain 3.5 seems to have a better divider.

Does the new Hybrid 5 have full length dividers?

Yes - I recently got the Navy/White/Red one and they are full length (I mean, they have the last inch or two at the bottom open, but I believe that is the case with all "full length" dividers).

I haven't found it any easier or harder to get clubs out of than other stand bags that have the "full tilt" bottom (like the Hoofer) rather than the kickstand style (like the Sun Mountain stand bags). When the bag is upright, they go in and out pretty easily. When it's tilted on its legs, they do catch a little more but nothing serious in my experience, particularly compared to 4-6 way bags that don't have full length dividers (I'm looking at you Mizuno with your BRD-4 that I really liked other than the open sections that resulted in a ton of club tangle for me).

Anyone get the new Players 4. I have always had Ping hoofers and after my latest issue with the Crazelite's stand getting broken, decided to try something different. I love the black Players 4, but was curious if anyone has any feedback or comparisons vs hoofer lite?

1- Is it true that Vessel makes Titleist bags nowadays?

2- Any feedback on the stands? I do 50-50 carry/push cart, so the stand being weak would be annoying

3- I don't really care much for storage, if I could use craze-lite, anything else should be relatively easy as well but are the zippers and compartments good?

Appreciate the run down... Bag shipped last night so I should know shortly how it handles... Moving from an old school Ogio stand that last 10 years before the zippers went.

I picked up the 2021 Players 4 at DSG after trying the 2020 Players 4 and 2020 Hoofer Lite and here's what I found.

I carry 50% of the time, use a push cart 30% of the time, and ride 20% of the time.

Biggest things for me were the light weight, club tangle, stand mechanism durability, ability to stand upright, and having a tee pocket.

2020 Players 4:

- 3.8 pounds

- Had straps to keep the legs from popping out on a push cart/power cart, but no pass through

- Cheap price (Got mine for $110)

- Materials didn't feel cheap at all

- Snappy legs with no leg droop

- Fairly large metal towel ring for your towel, brush, range finder, etc.

- Zippers were okay, not the best but definitely not the worst. I could see them breaking in a year or so of heavy use.

- Small 4 way top (8.5") that could be a tight fit with 14 clubs

- Terrible straps. Thin and the pattern of the padding felt like gravel on your shoulders, but they were removable for cart use so there's that.

- No outer tee pocket, but there was a smaller pocket inside the ball pocket for tees, markers, etc.

- Had all the necessary pockets: pen, ball, apparel, accessory, valuables, drink, and rangefinder slot

- Valuables pocket is not waterproof, drink pocket isn't insulated

- If you put a drink in the drink pocket, it can squish the contents of the accessory pocket

- Dividers weren't truly full length, they went down all the way vertically but were not boxed dividers so grips could creep into upper/lower sections horizontally (if that makes any sense..)

- It can only stand upright for a moment or two before it falls over due to the narrow base of the bag, but it wasn't the worst.

Dealbreaker (for me): The straps and comfort. It was just too uncomfortable and outright painful to use this bag for walking.

PING Hoofer Lite

- 5 pounds but felt lighter because of the awesome straps. Probably the best straps you can get for a golf bag.

- No leg lock strap when using carts, but it has a cart pass through

- Nice pocket layout and sturdy zippers

- Had all the pockets you typically need: tee, ball, 2 pen, insulated drink pocket, apparel, accessory, and valuables

- Valuables pocket is not waterproof, but the drink pocket is insulated

- Larger top opening (9") but the bottom divider feels a lot smaller because of the hoof mechanism

- I'm personally not a fan of the hoof mechanism. When stand is deployed there's a piece of plastic on the inside of the base that causes the grips of the clubs in the bottom divider to pop out further than the other clubs. So when you stand the bag back up, it smacks the other irons or woods on the way down.

- Dividers aren't truly full length. They stop 3-4 inches from the bottom which tangles like crazy. Nearly impossible to take a club out or put one in the bag when the stand is deployed, you have to stand the bag upright and shake the bag a bit to avoid ruining your grips.

- Legs don't have rubber feet to keep them doing the splits on smooth surfaces. They also dig into the ground in wet conditions that pick up a bunch of dirt that then gets rubbed onto the front of the bag.

- Impossible to stand in an upright position. It will always lean one way or the other and if you forget to deploy the stand, it'll fall over before you know it.

Dealbreaker (for me): The stand mechanism and tangle. I really wish I could keep the straps though, they're soooo comfy.

2021 Players 4

- Pretty much the same bag as the 2020 model with a few key upgrades: drink pocket is now completely separate, tee pocket added above the ball pocket, straps are improved, and the dividers work better as well

- Snappy legs but after 3-4 rounds one of the legs is starting to droop. Could be just my bag though, I hope I can get a replacement if it gets worse.

- Valuables pocket is still not waterproof (the 4 Plus has a StaDry zipper on theirs)

- Drink pocket is still not insulated and it is mostly a mesh netting which concerns me in terms of durability but so far so good.

- The straps are SO MUCH BETTER. They got rid of the bumpy texture and made it smooth and has a bit more padding to it. Not nearly as comfortable as the PING straps but definitely a huge upgrade.

- Only 2 full length dividers but they are true full length dividers that are boxed! It makes a world of difference because now if you get tangle, its limited to their respective divider. For example, the iron section (middle dividers) can still get some tangle between them but you won't have to worry about your driver grip or wedge grips creeping into that section via the sides of the bag.

Dealbreaker (for me): If I had to be really really nitpickey, there's no insulated drink pocket, no waterproof zips for valuable pocket, and one droopy leg (but it could be just my bag). Fantastic bag overall.

I honestly should have gotten the 4 Players Plus for the waterproof valuables, roomier top, and a bit more storage for only half a pound more, but at this point if I buy another bag my wife will probably lose her s*** and I don't wanna go through that again 😅

Haha what, that’s a weird pocket. Was hoping for one like the hoofer

That would be an awesome addition for sure, not sure why more bags don't have it.

The pocket is perfect for keeping your rangefinder in though, you can use your left hand to grab it before putting the bag down for your shot

Just got the 2019-2020 P4 Sta Dry No Logo. I really like where they placed the range finder pocket for the prior year (behind the apparel pocket not in front). When you add the rain hood and a rain jacket in the apparel pocket it literally closes the range finder pocket and makes it a little difficult to get out. Which for a $300+ range finder I'll take all day over it falling out during the round (or using a cheap dime size magnet like the 2021 model has).

Unfortunately I've only had the chance to play one round with it so far, and I took a cart. It was great on the cart though, no tangle at all, didn't bounce around or fall out. I have no complaints with it there. I've been using it in the garage the last couple of weeks pulling clubs in and out to hit into a net. I've got the straps set up and adjusted and they're pretty comfortable. I have pretty broad shoulders and typically tend to lean towards carrying single strap due to the way the doubles fit, but this one feels great with both on. Bag is nice and light. I haven't had it in any adverse weather yet, but with spring right around the corner I'm bound to get stuck in a rain shower sooner than later. My course should *fingers crossed* be opening back up at the end of this week as the snow is about gone. So I'll have some walking rounds and push cart rounds under my belt in the next two weeks.

Played a few rounds with the new 2021 Hybrid 14 bag. One big thing that I noticed is that my clubs don't slide in completely while the bag is leaning on the legs. I have to straighten the bag upright and then they will just slide in. Kind of annoying when I put a wedge back in and pull out the putter. The club will just sit there sticking out above the rest of the clubs. I mean, I can push it down with a bit of wiggling but it doesn't slide in easily.

Overall, I like it! Gotta get used to smaller pockets though. I'm coming from a mid staff bag with bigger pockets. But, of course, the less I pack the pockets, the lighter the bag feels!

Popped into my local PGASS and what to my wondering eyes should appear but both a standard 2021 Players 4 and a Players 4 Plus. The ones I'm showing are the only ones they had though they did have more than one of each of these.

A few things stand out.  The new straps are fantastic, think they are a big upgrade.  The rangefinder pocket is much bigger on both and they included a magnetic closure.  The valuables pocket is bigger but its pretty deep so won't be putting anything very small in there. The small pocket above the ball pocket is just the right size for tees and ball markers.  Lastly, the water bottle pocket is now on the outside and won't crowd the side pocket (yay!) but it may be a tight fit for bigger containers. That and the tee pocket are more or less the same on both bags though the plus has a second external pocket on the opposite side of the ball pocket that the regular Players 4 doesn't have.

Had tried to post this from the store but the connection fizzled while it was uploading so don't have as many pics of the regular Players 4.

Several rounds in now with my 2021 Players 4 StaDry, very happy with how it carries, love the compact feel which really cuts down on bag chatter and it's as light as a stand bag can get.  Tangle has not been an issue, only thing I would really change is to make the drink holder big enough to carry a sand bottle (don't know why companies can't figure out that some of us who walk actually fill our divots).
